Yet another Computer Spec Question - Will it work?

because it’s an 8 Core / 16 Thread CPU, it will always have lower multi threaded performance than CPU’s with 10, 12 or even 16 cores.

Nice thing is; that only matters for productivity tasks (like rendering, 3D modeling and video editing etc). There’s currently no game or sim that will utilize more than 8C/16T (see my link a couple posts up from the benchmarks Hardware unboxed ran).

People spending on a 10900K or 5900X/5950X for a pure gaming/simming setup are simply wasting money.

edit: my advise to OpticDragon9993 would be: nothing, since I don’t know his budget and the resolution he’s targeting to run at.

If he’s going to run at 1080P an/or has a low budget, then just get an upgraded GPU (8GB of VRAM), and keep running the current system.

If he’s going to be running at 4K and has a massive budget;
Any B550 motherboard, 5600X/5800X, 32GB of the fastest RAM you can get running (3600MHz minimum), M.2 NVME drives for storage, and a Radeon 6800XT or GTX3080 for a GPU.
