Hi all,
I’m looking to purchase a flight yoke and rudder pedals and seen a few on eBay.
I’ve seen some listings of logitech g saitek pro flight yoke system & also Thrustmaster T.Flight Rudder Pedals.

Not the pedals. I personally use the Turtle Beach VelocityOne pedals.
I had the old TM HOTAS X and TFRP combo(that the pedals were nearly free on sale) and used that for a little while. The HOTAS I still have and use only for heli as it’s nice and sloppy/low resistance when loosened up and the throttle as collective ain’t half bad. The TFRP’s will do some basic duty and give you brakes(fine for most trike GA aircraft), but you’ll hit a wall at some point, particularly tail-dragger finesse and especially helis(but again the HOTAS twist throttle is probably the best axis on the joystick and will do the heli deed on a budget).
I have moved on to TB V1 pedals/stick/rudder pedals, mainly because I was still on XB at the time but still serve me well, with a few tweaks now I’m in a place where I can’t give up all those buttons and verniers and so many controls on the top of the yoke-4 hats, 4 buttons and triggers gets a lot done. But I don’t fly airliners or I’d have the TM setup(s) for that. If they ever sort out commuter jets and large TP aircraft, I may get that Boeing yoke too.
What do you fly, plan on flying and how much do you want to spend? And PC or XBOX(where it’s pretty much culled down for you). You don’t need to buy everything at once but what is your ‘step 1’? You can just save the box and get up and going with the hotas/tfrp combo like a lot do and sell it used later, so it’s a net $50 to get you in the air for a while to figure it out. Later on it’s not unusual to ponder just a collective and thinking ‘$700 ain’t bad’, so you don’t need to go whole hog immediately.
The saitek yoke is pretty bad tbh… there are better ones out there. Best imho in the budget range would be the Honeycomb, but only buy them at a local store who have storage, dont buy directly from honeycomb currently. The saitek pedqls are decent for the price tho.
For an honest review for you,
I got my Logitech yoke to play fs2004 when fs2004 was new and my Logitech yoke still runs the only problem I have with the Logitech yoke is the throttle wires because that’s disconnected a few times randomly even though it was plugged in so I’d wait until you can get a yoke new because I still don’t trust getting stuff on eBay when it comes to electronics
Save your money and wait for something better. The Saitek yoke and pedals are at the very bottom of the line that once you try something better you will end up regretting getting. Put what you save here towards something better. Not the Turtle beach yoke though. Most others are reasonable to very good depending on what you get.
I also started with the TM Hotas X/TFRP pedal combo for about $130 US, and yes, it was like getting the Hotas X for $15. Been using the pedals four years w/o any problems but just don’t use the joystick much, preferring the HC Alpha yoke. Nonetheless, the Hotas X is a perfectly fine joystick/throttle combo for helis and jets.
Thanks for the replies & all taken on board.
As per my other posts on the forum I’m currently on Xbox series x just using a Thrustmaster Hotas X with also a keyboard & mouse so it’s served me well.
However, like I’ve mentioned in other threads I’m moving my flight simming over to a PC so while the I’ve had no issues using the Hotas x on the Xbox I would like something a bit more realistic in terms of yoke & pedals for the PC.
I really like the look of the TB V1 has it has the features I will be looking for but have seen some vids on youtube where the build quality isn’t the best However, I have seen a Mod you can do with the internal springs & also a Dutch guy has made some sort of roller bearing Mod that helps to smooth things out. The TB V1 pedals look ok too & seem ok in build quality.
As with all things in life you get what you pay for but want to keep to a budget so I’m thinking £500 tops to spend which should give me a reasonable setup?
I did say not the TB yoke for a reason. Yes it’s poorly designed/built. If a product needs mods to a brand new item to get it to be what it should be I’d suggest it’s flawed to begin with.
The sim community can be a resourceful bunch when it’s comes to modding existing purchases but the need to do that can be avoided with due diligence like you are doing.
tIt’s certainly not for me to tell anyone what to buy but just giving the heads up for any prospective new purchasers. Yoke choices right now are quite thin on the ground but I suspect more new products are on the way given the imminent sim refresh later this year so there may be better choice coming.
I have been using the CH Products Eclipse yoke and pedals for years. Nice thing about the Eclipse is that it has paddles that can be used to control the rudder if you don’t want to use the pedals.
