I just made a C# program that’s using Simconnect to instantly alternate between full left/right aileron deflection every second, and there definitely seems to be a built in delay/lag in MSFS, even when on ground with engines off.
It’s different depending on plane, the Extra 300 & Pitt’s aerobatics planes are pretty much instant in matching control input, but all other planes has a lag which isn’t linear as well.
When sending a full left command while in full right(or vice versa), the initial movement is instant, but slows down close to neutral position, to speed up again to the max position.
This makes no sense, the IRL aileron linkages aren’t made by rubber bands. This can very much be the reason I don’t like the current MSFS “feel” of the aircraft, there’s always a delay between my stick/yoke input and the plane.
boeing 747 = huge lag
most other planes = medium lag
extra 300 / pitts = almost no lag
The MSFS delay affects both interior: yoke and exterior: control surfaces.
Used the same method on X Plane 11 setting, no lag, both yoke and control surfaces, instant response.
IRL, different planes respond differently mostly due to mass/inertia and size of control surfaces, not how well oiled / quick your yoke is.
