You have £700 - what do you do with it?

OK, imagine you have £700 what do you upgrade first?

  1. CPU to a Ryzen 5 5900X (from a R3 3600) and new mobo

or

  1. New GPU RTX 3070 (from a RTX 2060)

Making the assumption that you can get a GPU at a reasonable price.

GPU. I have a 3700x, and made the jump form 5700 to RX 6800. The FPS increase and fluidity was amazing! Running 1440p, so the CPU isn’t the bottleneck. If you run 1080p, the CPU will probably limit your fps.

Good to know - Thanks.

Buy the Alpha, Bravo, Charlie trinity. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

… They’re harder to get than a graphics card at a reasonable price!

As for CPU’s, AMD is showing them in stock, at least for the moment.

5900X for $549
9550X for $799
5800X for $449
5600X for $$299

No AMD GPU’s listed in stock. Probably need to check earlier in the morning. I was told Thursday AM is when they post available products.

GPU when available at a reasonable price

I’d buy Apple stock… pretty much guaranteed. And you can find it at MSRP.

Sign up to a free discord server like partalert for stock notifications so you don’t get robbed paying 2x msrp. If you want a 30 series RTX FE in the UK you’ll need Scan FE notifications. That’s how I got my 3070 FE for £469 msrp from Scan.co.uk.

Just checked partalert, Scan had 3080, 3070, 3060Ti all FE in-stock yesterday.

Buy a real flight and go somewhere nice!

I would get the RTX 3060 Ti and a Ryzen 5600X.

Ryzen 3000 series is not really good for MSFS. It has latency issues and that plays a part on a game heavily dependendt on single core performance. You also won’t use not even half the 5900X, so it is money heavily wasted / trashed unless you are a pro editor that renders long videos. And you are on a budget, so spend it wisely.

If you do render and stream on a gamer level, the 5800X is a good option. If you do not stream and render just some occasional videos, the 5600X is enough to carry any current GPU on the market.
