I suppose a weighted moving average would be ideal

Working on something like this with the help of another contribute here, so it will be introduced soon when the votes have settled down a bit and we see if it has the desired result.

I tried looking at this in the software I use (Numbers on Mac) but I don’t really get how it works or how to set it up precisely. Still working on it slowly lol

You know of Aircraft Manager? That lets you re-order the aircraft in your hangar (table view is added by the mod) by all the categories they are listed by in the game (range, cruise speed, type etc etc). Or you can make your own tags and order by that. Not really what you are doing but thought I’d mention it in case it’s useful to you!

Now we have so many aircraft to choose from I would love to see a separate payware & freeware list as there are some incredible freeware out there and I just don’t think it’s fair to have the freeware up against the payware and they can get lost in the overall list.

I totally agree. I would consider doing it but what is stopping me is:

1. There would be no way to make this clear to submitters. I have enough trouble making them separate the blooming 737’s when mentioned, so I don’t think we can ensure every vote that comes in also has a FREEWARE list along side it and I can see myself constantly having to reming people that there is this requirement and to NOT include Free planes in their Top 10.
2. …but maybe it doesn’t matter. If someone WANTS to give a list of Free Favourites AS WELL, they can (3 to 5). And I count them if there, or just ignore if not…
3. …but then this means it is not a direct comparison to the Payware in terms of quantity of votes. It would be a Chart In A Different Parallel Universe. But that is OK I guess.
4. And really, yes this does take a lot of time to manage currently. I am not really so keen on multiplying my workload on a monthly basis!
5. I guess I could change the RULES of the main chart a bit. Top 10 PLUS top 3 (?) freeware. So everyone gets 13 votes but they are in the SAME table for me, then each month I would filter out the Payware and show the top FREEWARE and PAYWARE separately (comes back to my lack of skill in making Pivot Tables behave visually so they are listed in sequence). It just gets complex with all the green and red arrows as it’s a totally manual process to add those.

I’ll have a think how I could do with with minimal extra effort!

…which was really just focussed on finding the one(s) to give an Award to before the New Year. But maybe it could be done here and I present it “real-time” in the forum. Not a spreadsheet. That topic is dead now, but it might work… and I link to that from the Monthly Results posts. Food for thought.
