New list:

  1. Black Square Analog King Air
  2. Vision Jet
  3. PMDG 737 - 600

I am not much of a piston aircraft lover but I do appreciate the 414, the 310 and the V-tail Bonanza.

It is quite good. I like it a bit more than the H Jet but it is more my style of plane.

The Vision Jet really feels like a GA jet. The best views are the pilot’s. It is a plane you want to fly.

The H Jet is a business jet. It is a plane you want someone to fly you around IN.

So in spite of their similarities they are different feeling planes.

Its performance is in line with turboprops. Faster than most. But it always feels like a jet.

Thanks for your comments. I have indeed already picked it up - couldn’t resist all the great videos I saw and not be it in myself. I concur with what you have said.

Old list

  1. P28 arrow III. Just flight
  2. Turbo Porter PC-6. Milviz
  3. DC-6. PDMG
  4. P-44 seminole
  5. C152 with the jpl-mod

My updated list is preparing for top10 starting next month.

  1. P28 arrow III. Just flight
Lovely plane to fly. Great for VFR flying. Like to fly it in mountainous regions, it is a challenge getting it over mountains. Sound are fantastic and fly it the most of all the planes i own. The plane feels realistic and not to complex, but still offers features like state saving and the possibilty to fly without a functioning GPS in sight.

  2. C310. Milviz
Great plane to fly, difficult to land. Beautiful from some angles, ugly from others. Great for faster cross country flying. Plane has a lot of interresting features like the possibity to fly without GPS and the ownership options. Best GA-twin available.

  3. Turbo Porter PC-6. Milviz
It can take off and land almost everywhere. Really immersive plane. Still really looking forward to phase 2 of the plane. Normally dont care for modern avionics, but it makes the plane great for flying in the mountains in bad weather. Would be higher on my list if it would have a state saving option.

  4. DC-6. PDMG
Great plane for those rare days i like to fly something that is not a GA plane. Lots of immersion and not to easy to manage. At the same time it offers the digital flight engineer for some of those complex tasks. Lovely to fly these older but detailed planes.

  5. Twin otter. Aerosoft
The updated sounds made me fly it again while waiting on the updates for the first three in my list. The Twin Otter is a fantastic capable plane in real live and love to have i in the sim. This version is fine for some casual flying without to much complexity. I finally found out how to use the autopilot on my system, It only works when first pressing the ESC button. Works as usual after that. Would love a version with more depth and up to a higher standard, but still happy for now.

  6. DHC-2 Beaver. Milviz
Fantastic plane we got for free. The beaver (espesially with the Got Friends mod) is of high quality and great for (no surprise) bush flying. Never bought software that gave so much for free after buying it, thanks Asobo/MS.

  7. P-44 seminole. Carenado
The first plane i bought and still like to fly it when in the mood for a quick flight. Love the looks of the plane. It is one of the few Carenado planes that i still fly a month after purchase. Like the arrow III, it is challenging to fly the plane over mountains.

  8. C152 with the jpl-mod
A free jewel. Great for low and slow and handles great with the mod installed. Love the lack of GPS, the older knobs and looks inside the plane. Great for VFR flying.

  9. L1049 Super Constellation. Redwing
Great aircraft and project. Not as polished as some other planes, but it makes up for that features. Deserves more positive attention.

  10. Ryan NYP (ā€œSpirit of St. Louisā€) Bluemesh
Really didnt care for it before the anniversary update. After the update i find it to be one of the best things that came with the update. Really interesting plane, with good modelling and textures. One of only three planes in the updated i still have installed. Great for (really) slow flying.

==== THIS WEEKS TOP 10 ====

====== MY SUMMARY ======
Both the Otter and Beaver make big strides up. It’s the week of the creatures lol

Not much change elsewhere this week. Top stays the same.

Two new entries this week:

  1. AV-8B / GR9 Harrier II by DC Designs
  2. Cirrus SF50 Vision Jet G2 by FlightFX

I did end up flying the Quickie Q200 again as the post by @Archimedes3000 reminded me. Got to say, it’s actually pretty fantastic. It plays really well with my force feedback stick and I think it’s a hidden gem for sure. I had a lot of fun chucking it around sightseeing some PG cities. Was very involving and super fluid. The visibility out is great and it is a little tricky to land as you need to be quite careful with the speed. If you’re after something a bit different I can highly recommend it.

Also flew the Savoia-Marchetti S.55 for same reason. It’s fine but a bit dull to fly. Drives nice on the water though. Suppose it had to as you have no other choice!

But again most of my time was learning the Cabri. Absolutely love it.

Still not impressed with the Twotter since the massively overdue update. It sounds better than before but still quite jarring with some of the loops and the sound on the ground just sounds totally bizarre to me. The flight characteristics especially in landing seems off too. What a shame! Will give it another go as I just thought maybe FS Realistic was interfering too much?

Been a while and quite changed list.

New list:
1: DC-6 Finally pulled the trigger after the stock DC-3 left me wanting more. My now go to ā€œGAā€. After the B736 my second PMDG plane and it has that same feel of downright quality.
2: DC-3 With mods a really nice plane.
3: B736 Just such a wel put together plane. The systems, the sound, the whole feel. Just feels solid.
4: C337 This will drop as after a world tour with it, and not too deep simulation i am starting to feel done with it. However it it still a fun little bird.
5: Islander Barely beating the Beaver simply because the latter for some reason is twitchy like mad.

The Arrows have dropped off, they just really are not up there anymore due to the desperate need for a FM update.
Beech 18 just became boring after a few flights. Instead of climbing the list it fell right off.

Old list:

  1. Cessna 337 by Carenado. My current main plane of my current world trip. Nice sounds and a fun handflyer.
  2. JF Arrow 3 (NA and Turbo). It just still is the plane i enjoy the most whenever i fly them.
  3. BBS Islander V2 Still a fun plane, even more fun now. Not the best looker but, it’s a real workhorse. And gotto love those engine sounds.
  4. PMDG 737-600. Not flying too often, as i enjoy GA mostly but it is undeniably the best simulation of any aircraft i own. Looks and sounds absolutely fantastic as well as a superb nav system.
  5. Beech 18 new purchase but expected to climb the ranks in my list. May at some point replace the C337 in the tour

  1. DeHavilland beaver (floats)

  2. NextGen E110

  3. Aerosoft twin otter (floats)

  4. DC3

  5. Aerosoft CRJ

To sum it up, I love to fly those light airliner twins and small regional airliners the most, I’m kind of wondering what happened to development on Skyline Dash 8 project and if anyone’s doing a DC9 30 because like the DC3 I flew those two airliner types the most in fsx and fs2004

Have my year end list ready… and it is on hold for one more plane release. I have a hunch it could rank so I wait.

That said, folks really shouldn’t sleep on the Hellcat. It is a really good addon. If you like radials, great sounds, and a cockpit with shaking dials, she is quite a nice bird.

 Hahaha — exactly the same here mate! I have written my list and was ready to post this week, but then it changed with the news that we ARE getting the Wiiiiilga this side of January, so I’ve gotta hold off posting! I know that’s what you’re referring to also

Yea man it’s a great visceral plane. I still prefer the Spitfire though - probably largely coz I’m a Brit, and I just love the shape of it. I do like planes that have wobbling bits and bobs though. The Beaver and B247D are great for that too.

There is one plane I noticed but can’t remember which now, that the fuel level needle changes based on your nose pitch. I looked with alarm once before I noticed this, thinking WHAAAAT it can’t be that low already, but I was in a climb (or decent, can’t remember) so when I levelled out the needle came back up. So it’s measuring the fuel tipping away from the sensor in the tanks nice touch. Could have been the Beaver actually.

So, guys and gals (if we have any here?!) — here’s a little TWIST GAME for the end of the year. I’m not gonna make a chart or anything but just for fun. Feel free to join in

Top Aircraft sitting on ā€œMY TO BUY LISTā€, but still I have not pulled the trigger:

  1. SeaRey Elite / Fokker F.VII / JSX-2 / Cri-Cri (not sure how much I’d use them but I’m very tempted especially by the SeaRey)
  2. Vision Jet (with all that glass I fear my system will crawl under a rock and die - shame we cannot have a time limited demo to check these things before buying, especially with ā€œno refundsā€ policy from MS Marketplace)
  3. PMDG 737-600 (same fear as above, plus it’s not really my kinda plane at the moment)
  4. F-14 / CJ Eurofighter (keep meaning to get but don’t think they will be all that different to other fast miljets I’ve got. Probably Tornado will be next definite modern military purchase)
  5. Osprey (interesting, but suddenly we got enough hovering & VTOL capable craft! Cabri, Bell, Harrier, F-35)
  6. Cessna 510 Mustang (toss up between that and the Vision or HJet! I’ll get one for sure but which…)
  7. King Air analogue (don’t think I need the added stuff really over the modded freeware. Good enough for me)
  8. Piaggio P149D (quite similar to the Globe Swift I have)
  9. Bonanza V-Tail / Carenado 170B / Erco Ercoupe / Aviat Husky (got enough similar planes)
  10. Trislander (I think I’d still just use the Islander. It’s enough power for me when I’m in the mood for that plane)
  11. Piper Warrior II (I think I’d still just use the Arrows!)

Sadly (but happily for my wallet) I think the time has passed for all those. There are always some great new planes coming out, with the bar being lifted, and I still haven’t spent enough time in my current purchases.

Which planes do you keep eyeing up but haven’t bought yet?

They are trying too many new things with the Wilga. I must wait and see if it all works!

As for the warbirds, that Merlin sounds SO good, but a double Wasp is the song of my heart. Hearing those over the valley growing up was like nothing else.

These two older planes were arguably ā€œbest in classā€ when released.

P149D - sporty aerobatic military trainer that is a rort to fly with canopy back (probably illegal in real life). Historically accurate model including ā€œlegacyā€ radios which add to immersion but limit it to VFR and might make Vatsim an issue.

Warrior II - the most recent and best of the Just Flight PA28’s. At the time of release the Warrior II was probably the most immersive and accurate GA addon out there. For low and slow, sight seeing and circuits the Warrior II is definitely better than the Arrows.

WARNING - Whilst both were arguably ā€œbest in classā€ when released both the P149D and the Warrior II are overdue for a major patch/update. Both are still flyable and do not CTD but both have some FM issues with the latest version of the sim.
