@Baracus250 Not only have you gifted us with one of the nicest threads in this forum, you also have great taste (according to me).
My final list for 2022:
-
HPG H145: The H145 reached version 1.0 after a long early-access period (which I loved, seeing all the progress was lots of fun and a great learning experience), and just a few weeks later, the 40th Anniversary edition of MSFS was released with the new helicopter flight model. Instead of slowing down and letting the dust settle, main developer Dave quickly got to work integrating the new flight model. The first builds were admittedly quirky, but the current build 361 is already very usable and great to fly manually. The H145 has a lot of systems depth, AFAIK this is the only helicopter in MSFS with an auto pilot. Now that the flight model is also butter smooth (it was kind of jumpy before), this helicopter is very close to perfection for me.
-
Asobo Cabri G2: Where the H145 is a complex machine with lots of systems and automation, the Cabri is simple and easy to understand. But wow is it fun to fly! At least it has got working cyclic trim, so you can even do longer flights with it.
-
GotFriends Wilga: Yep it is new, but I am sure that this is more than just a quick affair. You could say it is ugly, but it has lots of personality! And that is exactly what puts it above both the Kodiak and the Kitfox for me. Closest competition is the free Blackbird Beaver with the GotFriends mod that gives it much needed tundra tyres. Add the wonderful, free âReturn to Misty Mooringsâ scenery to the mix, and you have got hours and hours of amazing bush flying ahead of you.
-
FlySimware C414AW: Yes, it is as good as everybody says. Simply a wonderful plane to travel at medium altitudes. Blackbird C310R is every bit as well made, but I prefer the 414.
-
FlightFX Cirrus VisionJet: Not sure if this will stay in my top 5. But at the moment I really enjoy the modern cockpit, high level of automation and excellent visibility. I also have the HondaJet, but hardly ever flew it. Technically they are both excellent, but the Cirrus is just more fun to fly!
Honorable mention: Iris Simulations Pilatus PC-21. Powerful but easy to fly, great visibility, interesting cockpit. I havenât flown it for a few weeks, but plan to get back to it soon.
Planes that I have not bought yet, but are on my watch list:
- PMDG 737: I am not an airliner kind of guy, but this one looks amazing. If only I had enough time to learn to operate this thing properly.
- PMDG DC-6: Again I donât usually fly big planes, but this one might be interesting in Alaska.
- Antâs Airplanes Tiger Moth: I already have the DC Designs Stearman and Lionhear Creations BĂŒcker Jungmann, but the Tiger Moth looks great as well.
Old list (2 Sep 2022):
- HPG H145
- HCG Cabri G2
- FSW Cessna 414AW
- FSReborn Sting S4
- JustFlight Hawk T1
