I hadn’t really flown the 152 in a couple years, but at the request of @MojaveHigh2379, I tried the new JPLogistics version on stream last night. Took it up for some pattern work at Santa Paula (KSZP), then went out and did airwork - slow flight, stalls, steep turns, accelerated stalls, spins, and a power-off 180, all from the right seat, which I hadn’t done for a while. It was a lot of fun, flew like a dream, but I also really love all the attention to detail.

Also tried the Carenado Archer II, was a lot of fun as well - looked and felt like an Archer. There are fewer frills there, but still a blast.

Do not own it as it sort of doubles up with all my other PA28’s.

The consensus seems to be
 only basic features, but has a good flight model for a Carenado. Price is attractive and looks good (as you would expect for a Carenado).

Main complaint seems to be the lack of an AP.

Pretty accurate assessment. I fly an Archer in real life (albeit a much newer model) that doesn’t have AP, so no qualms here. Would love to see them do a G1000 version.

Great stream yesterday, I learned a lot from it!

In general, I wonder how much of a challenge it is for 3rd parties to do a G1000 implementation. Since it’s built into the base game, surely it’s just a matter of making a panel that fits it and getting the autopilot to play nice? If you already have a 530 or 430 you’d think a G1000 would be plug and play, right? I’m just thinking out loud because there’s comparatively few add-ons with the G1000 and you’d think they could just add it as an option. I say this as an XBOX player who doesn’t have access to the 750s, who loves to buy add ons, and who once in a while wants a glass cockpit for certain flights.

Thank you, I’m so glad you enjoyed it!

I wonder the same, maybe a 3rd party dev can weigh in on that?

In the case of an Archer II to a TX, it’d be a complete panel and interior redesign as most of the electrical switches are on a bulkhead above the windscreen.

Most of my flying is done in real time with live weather. So with the shorter, colder days the gliders have been stowed for the season (and off the list) and more flights have been at night and in the west and pacific regions. This new top 10 reflects those factors somewhat.

1 Flysimware C414AW Chancellor
A really fine and immersive model.

2 Simworks Studios Daher Kodiak 100
Another solid platforma nd all around workhorse.

3 FlyingIron F6F-5 Hellcat
Take care of the Wasp engine and it will take care of you.

4 Got Friends DHC-2 Beaver
Another great all around platform. Candian legend!

5 Flight FX Cirrus Vision Jet
A delightful jet that is always a pleasure for fast transport. Navigrap chart integration makes this a favorite for going anywhere on a whim.

6 DC Designs AV8B Harrier
You haven’t liff’d until you’ve viff’d. :slight_smile:

7 Carenado C337H Skymaster II
Another really immersive model. was really surprised by this one.

8 Asobo Studio Cessna 172 Skyhawk
Ole reliable. The go to when it’s time for working on flight training, especially night flying.

9 Lionheart Creations Bucker Bu-131 Jungman
Another one that surprised. It’s become a favorite.

10 Aeroplane Heaven Douglas DC3 - classic
A big ole lumbering joy of a plane to fly. Really dig it for medium range transport.

Very good point! I’ve also been flying a lot of FIKI-able aircraft when flying in the northern tier as of late. It’s been solid, ice-laden IFR for two months.

January Chart Update

The Monthly Runway Show is Live and In The Air!

First off, thanks to everyone that has submitted their new lists. We have had a great response for this first month of the new chart so thanks for the support! 83 people have posted (17 are new pilots having posted for the first time). That is like nearly a quarter of what we had in total in 2022, so that seems great. Thank you. So without further ado, here’s the results!

:globe_with_meridians: ==== ALL-TIME TOP 25 ==== :globe_with_meridians:

:bar_chart: ==== THIS MONTHS TOP 25 ==== :bar_chart:

:card_file_box: ==== COMPLETE CHARTS PDF PACK ==== :card_file_box:

Want to see more awesome aircraft?

You can download the entire Charts Pack as a PDF here. This file includes the main All-Time Chart and a page for every month listing all votes, so you can see aircraft that fall outside of the Top 25 above.

:link: Download the PDF here:

:speech_balloon: ====== MY SUMMARY ====== :speech_balloon:
I’ve shown the All Time TOP 25 this month just so you can see how the change from Points to single Votes has changed the order (of course it’s all in the full PDF), but next time that first snapshot will be just 10, with 25 for the Monthly. Again all data in the PDF as separate pages.

Interestingly opening up to 10 votes has allowed these older planes to appear. Maybe this New Entries section is the most useful for users who think they already have tried everything decent. Must admit I’m eyeing up that Skylark!

14 new entries this month (194 in the charts now):

  1. Ryan NYP Spirit of St. Louis by Microsoft / Blue Mesh
  2. PowerSTOL by V.G.P
  3. PAC P-750 XSTOL by Orbx
  4. Grumman G-21A Goose by Microsoft / iniBuilds
  5. Airbus A318 by LatinVFR
  6. Ratan Model 61 Long-EZ by IndiaFoxtEcho
  7. SeaRey Elite by Aerosoft
  8. Airbus A330-300 by Project Mega Pack
  9. Savoia-Marchetti S.55 by Microsoft / Mike Johnson
  10. Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey by Miltech Simulations
  11. Extra 330-LT by Asobo
  12. CubCrafters NX Cub by Asobo
  13. Bell 206-B JetRanger (helicopter) by Cowan Sim
  14. Pasped Skylark by Lionheart Creations

Let me know what you think to the new format or if you see anything that needs changing.

I’ve added the P / F / B (for payware / freeware / both) into the sheet column instead of model description cell now. Might be some errors on the global with the previous positions but next month it will all be 100% correct (I made a flow error with my new process lol).

I like the new format. Especially having a seperate list for the all-time best and the best of the month is a very good idea. Gives new releases a lot more room to shine, when they wouldn’t be found in the all-time best (yet).

B.A., you’re the best! Thank you from the heart for all the effort you are putting in!

Very happy to see the Willy in the Top 10 and the Tiger Moth in the Top 20! Looks like both of them benefited from the reset. Although I feel like both of them should be much higher up :wink: Seriously everyone: if you’re into GA, vintage, and/or STOL, the Wilga is a must-have! And if you are looking for the utmost of pleasure in hand-flying a historical legend, then the Moth is totally a must-have. Sadly it’s a “you have to feel it to believe it” kind of thing.

Aside from my two favourites now making the list, I’m otherwise glad that most of the all-time favourites still appear in the new list as well. So it’s not like the shiny new toys are eating up all the praise. Feels like the list is hitting a good balance between making it easier for new entries to reach the Top 25, but still keeping great but older planes near the top as well.

Yes, for only for about 1/2 hour though.

My initial impressions are
 wow! This will likely be a worthy addition to next month’s list.

Great job and, as you say, free too.

Yes, you can talk to P2Atc using a microphone.

Once you get the hang of it it’s really quite good.

Yes and it’s just bumped the Wilga out of the top ten for me. It’s epic :small_airplane:

Actually the one I’d recommend ( spoiler - it will be in my Feb top 10) is the new Carenado Piper Archer ii. Of course the visuals are up to the normal Carenado standard but the flight model is also exceptionally good I think and it really is a joy to hand fly. Carenado really have really knocked it out of the park with this one - but be warned there’s no autopilot ( if you really can’t fly without Otto) .

Edit: excellent engine sounds too - all in all a very immersive ‘plane to fly and a very high quality release which may surprise a few
