All right! Then I’ll go with my alternative:

Which the Moth soooo is.

Cool cool. Guess what, I’m keeping a list

Yes, I knew it! So when will you start the new thread “Your Current TOP 10 Adjectives for the Awesomeness that is the Tiger Moth”?

I’ve realized that I don’t fly often enough to REALLY learn any of the planes I’ve accumulated and recently decided that I was going focus on just a couple for a while before adding anything new.

However, then they announced the Black Square Bonanza is coming soon! That will most likely be my main focus for a while after it comes out.

Until then…

  • Aeroplane Heaven Cessna 140 - A lot of my flying is just site seeing and this is still my go-to plane for that. Love the classic look and really enjoy flying it.

  • Beechcraft Bonanza V35 - If I want to get somewhere faster this is my default. Like the C140, it’s not as in-depth as some addons which is why the BS Bonanza will likely take some hours away from this one.

  • Carenado Cessna 170B - Faster and newer than the C140 of course. Like the little extra speed, but just doesn’t have the same feel as the C140 for me. Might need to play with the camera settings some more.

  • WBSim Cessna 172 [NEW to hanger] - Amazing what they put into this. One of the ones I really need to spend time with to get to know.

  • Milviz 310R - Amazing addon with the ownership option and wear and tear. If I ever make an around at world trip I think it will be with this one. Another one I need to learn better.

  • Cessna 152 (jplogistics mod) - A GREAT free mod. I feel like I know this one best. It is my default trainer.

  • DHC-2 Beaver - Really enjoy this now that the quick views issues were fixed with the mod.

  • Just Flight Warrior II - The Warrior and Arrow were my favorite two planes for a long time, but they need updated. Recently few them both once and put them back in the hanger until the update in the works gets released.

  • Just Flight Turbo Arrow III - See above.

  • Black Box Islander [NEW to hanger] - Really wanted a high wing twin and went with this over the Twin Otter. I like it, but haven’t been flying it much.

With excessively floaty aircraft you can mitigate it a little bit by pushing up the “wear and tear” slider under aircraft customization in game which basically adds more parasitic drag.

If your into Tiger Moths consider joining the Kiwi Tigers multiplayer Tiger Moth flights once a week (Monday evenings UTC, early Tuesday Mornings Aussie time).

This was the flight this morning:

Out of curiosity, where did you find out about this? Not seen any thread for it here yet. Sounds like it could / should be good!

Must admit I’m trying to hold on until the A2A Comanche before purchasing any more planes in that category!

It’s right on Just Flight’s site. The Bonanza and the Baron.

Oh, well, I’m sorry I missed visiting every flight sim related website in the whole of the known world today! :stuck_out_tongue:

Haha, didn’t mean it that way. But it’s also been on all the news sites :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Only joking man!
Surprised no one talked about it here or in the Aircraft category generally though.

Actually I don’t really visit many other sites. I rely on you lot keeping me up to date!

They actually already have the aircraft pages up. You just cannot buy them quite yet.

The cockpits of course are very similar, as you would expect. Naturally the Baron has a second set of engine gauges. prop, throttle , mixture levers etc not present on the Bonanza.

Only have 5 in my virtual hangar:

  • Fenix A320 - my favourite airliner since its release.

  • FFX HondaJet - so much detail and so much fun.

  • PMDG 737-600 - allows me to get my 737 fix and be able to unceremoniously throw it into EGLC just the right side of an uncontrolled crash.

  • Cessna 152 (jplogistics freeware mod) - just great for a single engine GA.

  • FSReborn Sting S4 - unfortunately sat in the hangar until SU12 arrives with the turbulence adjustment options. The closest thing to an A2A aircraft that I’ve experienced in MSFS, until I found the freeware jplogistics C152.

Hey!
Thanks for contributing here :+1:

Depending if you’re landing east or west…? …the “right side” will either be water or terminal buildings! Not sure what’s better to slow you down in your crash! I suppose I hope you’re usually coming in facing west!

I guess everybody likes analog gauges better than glass panels in GA aircraft. I know I do, not sure why? But the opposite is true in airliners. I think it’s because analog gauges just look more complex and awesome in GA planes.

But if I owned it for real, would definitely want the garmin glass panel. If you have seen the confusing maze of tubing and wires behind an analog panel you know what I mean.

Just fly at Dawn or Dusk.

The Sting S4 is awesome, it is my main ride in Neofly.

In no particular order:

  1. Just Flight Turbo Arrow: Still no patch! I can understand the flight model delays, but they have been sitting on other fixes, now including compatibility with the latest avionics, for a while now. One patch since June 2022 and little communication does not constitute great support. Yes they have their hands full with FSTraffic, but I don’t have that, I have this. It may be old now, but it’s still offered for sale and it isn’t cheap. Was looking over at Carenado but will most likely wait for A2A.

  2. FlightFX VisionJet. Timely updates and good support and communication from the devs. JF, please take note!

  3. SWS Kodiak: Really enjoying this again, and it was good to see it updated and devs communicate well about it still. JF, please take note! I have embarked on my first world tour with it. No plans, I just get in, have a quick look at LittleNavMap and head off. This really, really needs state saving though. SWS pushed the sim forward with this release I think, but others have since upped the game and I think for a top-tier 3rd party aircraft, state-saving should be standard. I think providing updates to match changes in the sim should be a given but I would have no problem with paying for this feature. How about it SWS, run a poll and see if it’s viable?

  4. Carenado V35B. Haven’t really flown it for a while, but it’s still there because, well, gorgeous!

  5. Iris PC-21. Occassional fun still when I just have a short amount of time.

  6. Asobo G36 with improvement mod. Still a great plane, still a dull interior…but gauges soon, hmmmm.

  7. Asobo 172 Bagolou mod. Just stunning what has been done with this. Labour of love in a nutshell.

  8. Asobo 152 WBSim/JPL mod. Might as well repeat the above.

New this time:

  1. Deejing Vans RV-7. It’s not perfect, but then again it has no right to be, but still a very good job, fun to fly and lots of variety in terms of models and avionics. I was really looking forward to the SWS Vans RV-10 after flying the freeware RV-7, wanting to see what SWS would bring to a brand new model, but something held me back. I’ve followed it closely on discord and I’m just not sold on it as it stands. It feels compromised by what the manufacturer wanted from a licenced product to what SWS could deliver in terms of avionics. Shipping originally with G3X and only functional with the old, limited non-WT430, it just wasn’t appealing. TDS GTN650 has arrived, but no PMS yet (unlike the options provided by FSReborn). No state saving (SWS have stated that retrofitting earlier aircraft would be a pain, but as mentioned above, no real excuse for not including it on newer models). This sounds like an anti-SWS rant, it’s not meant to be, just disappointed I suppose as after the Kodiak I really expected greatness and a step forward. Instead, I bought …

  2. FSReborn Sting S4. This is my new love. For sightseeing, it should be on everybody’s radar. So much attention to detail with the overall look, the additions, systems etc. etc. On my world tour I have about 1-1.5 hour flight interspersed with some touch and go’s and try to finish somewhere interesting that I then explore in the Sting.

Doing my Feb update while I still have time (as the month is so short and I’m likely to be busy flying A LOT in NZ in a few days…).

Not much has changed, so comments only for those variations.

  1. BN2 Islander [BlackBox Simulation]

  2. BAe 146 [Just Flight]

  3. Airbus A320 Neo (A32NX) [Asobo / FlyByWire] replacing Airbus A320-200 [Fenix Simulations]

I have gone back to this OG of my airliner flying career because the Fenix has reverted to the problem of all displays freezing halfway through a flight on my PC (or even more annoyingly just before takeoff after 45 minutes of planning, loading and taxiing). I’m actually glad I did, because since I was last in the Neo, FBW have added great new functions such as a good GSX profile, EFB improvements and last but not least: visible FO avatar! So just like in my BAe146, “Hayley” (named after MS’s Aussie text-to-speech voice that I use in Pilot2ATC) can now sit next to me and keep me company.

  1. Cessna L19 Bird Dog [BlackBox Simulation]

  2. P-38 Lightning [Flying Iron Simulations]

  3. Mooney M20R Ovation [Carenado]

  4. Cessna 152 [JPLogistics/WeptBurrito]

  5. Cessna 172 Sykhawk [Asobo with realism mods by MGouge425/Bagolu] replaces Cessna Citation CJ4 [Asobo]

Only recently discovered this and am liking it a lot, mainly for the clickable features but also for what feels like added flight model realism. Not really a fan of the knob twiddling on the G1000, but am still saving up for an Xtouch Mini and then it will be great to use. The new CJ4 in AAU1 on the other hand I just couldn’t get on board with (pun intended) after I had high expectations. Working Title do great work, but their original mod had many benefits over this new version in my opinion, and the realism they did add this time around feels a bit superfluous (avionics) or uncomfortable (flight model) to me. Sure it is mainly a personal thing though and many will think otherwise. Plus it’s still free!

  1. Piper PA-28R Arrow III [Just Flight]

  2. Quest (Daher) Kodiak 100 [SimWorks Studios]

And that’s it - here’s hoping that great freeware addons/mods like the C152 (moved to Discord) will still be easily found and updated even if/when they are gone from flighsim.to.
