None of the Black Square addons are available on Xbox. Them and HPG are sorely missing. Loved my time in their King Air on PC.

Lots of people seem to have fun with it which is great. Adds a new dimension, driving in a flight sim. And that’s super cool. Bold move from the developer - good for them! I never took to it though. I don’t want to fly in a race sim and don’t want to race in a flight sims

Nice pics. Especially number 7

It’s about recommendations. So new and old users can refer to this and make a choice for their new hanger additions. This thread helped me more than any other to choose where to “waste” my money :joy: Discussions add to the useful information

Ya I mean hats off to @Baracus250 because this is the most helpful thread on the forum by far and because he goes through all the work to maintain the top charts when someone(me this time) goes and spins the thread off topic by making a car analogy in my rankings, well people still make their monthly rankings and anyone after the topical advice this thread is for can just ignore the random conversation and go find the latest charts.

I have this thread to thank for never one single time having bought a dud 3rd party plane. Of course I have some hangar queens that I just don’t really like to fly but none of them are junk, never been disappointed in the plane itself only sometimes in my decision to buy something that in hindsight just isn’t my thing. I was using this thread long before I even had a forums account. 2020 is really where I got into flight simming but I write software for a living and I know how it is so I never made the mistake of trusting all of the payware content to be what it says it is and stumbled upon this when I was researching my very first 3rd party purchase(which ended up being the BB Islander).

I’ve been jumping back into that a fair bit recently and remember why it was the only thing I flew for ages immediately after I purchased it. Still really great and capable plane. And the sound of the engines when you throttle up are a thrill only equaled by the Goose, 310R … and Vulcan!

I really like it and it fits the kind of “role play” flying I like to pretend I’m in to perfectly.

Thanks for the nice words!! Makes it all worth while for me to know it’s useful for so many people (myself included, that’s why I originally stated it). Cheers!!

How does one become a beta tester for the good 3rd party devs? Relative to a lot of y’all I haven’t been simming for very long but I’ve logged a lot of hours at this point and I don’t consider myself to have the depth of real flying experience(yet anyway) to provide useful flight model input but I’m a software engineer so I absolutely know all kinds of obscure ways to break a piece of software and how to write up a useful report instructions to repro it.

I am on Xbox but I would really hope that they’re beta testing marketplace releases with Xbox users. I’d still be interested to hear just how to get in, I’m actually finally slowly starting to both figure out what exactly I want component wise and putting fun/hobby money aside for a proper PC build. Actually not really for MSFS even though it’s literally the only video game I play anymore, ya it’ll be nicer but I’m fine enough with my experience on my XSX to not need to spend $2-3k on a PC. I want to get into DCS though, that’s the catalyst.

…I don’t think Aircraft are really widely tested on Xbox before launch. They don’t make it particularly easy to do that sadly as far as I’m aware.

As for how I became a Beta tester, I don’t know really now you come to mention it lol

I just get around, I suppose!! Actually maybe this topic is a part of the reason, thinking about it!

Hopefully they add a mechanism to do so in 24, it’s an important thing to do on another platform. I guess the best route is to just reach out and ask lol, all the developers I’d be interested in doing it for are very responsive to the community anyway.

Not even looking for free planes really, like at this point with the Dukes that are supposedly in the process for Marketplace I’d be happy to just get early access and help out a cool one man developer, if I like them which I will I’d still buy them after the beta lmao. Same goes for A2A.

By the way also seeing as your a Flyinside tester, I’ve been flying the 206 around this morning and noticed that the cyclic and pedals visually stick sometime(unsure if the collective does too, can’t see it from the pov I usually use). Dunno if that’s an Xbox only thing or if they’re aware of it. The helicopter continues to respond to my inputs properly, just the virtual controls get stuck for a bit and don’t move with the inputs.

Like I said in my previous comments about it, I do like it, just I too have a very role play style and bought it to pretend I was a medium lift helicopter owner/operator for ranchers and mines near where I live in central Oregon. It’s terrible for that with a baseline ground level of 3500-4500 feet so I decided if we’re in fantasy land anyway may as well be a heavy lift operator with a Chinook. But today I’m a tour operator in the San Juan Islands and for that it’s awesome

Hmmm never noticed that on PC. I’ll pass your message to Rick and see what he says or if he has any questions.

Had a wonderful flight in the 206 last night by changing the temps to winter temps at KSLC. Almost never look at my controls though. Too low.

He said:

“Thats MSFS loading something in the BG. Scenery, cache, traffic, stuff”

Hope that sheds some light

You’re too low, or the controls? lol :joy:

On Xbox with no VR it doesn’t behoove me to move the camera down to watch my controls move. :joy:

Makes sense, and yes it is doing that too when it happens. However never seen it happen on any other plane I can recall and yes on xbox(or I assume more mediocre PCs) there is visible scenery loading very often.

I mean it doesn’t bother me much, the heli still responds and that’s the important thing.

Disagree on the 206 at least 1. POV I use let’s you see all the instruments, more than enough of a view up than you need or want and crucially by being so low you don’t need to move the camera to see through the windows in the floor in front of the pedals which are incredibly useful for low flight and landing. 2. I’m using the small GPS avionics option(not the big one right in front of you) and this way you can always see it, again without adjusting the camera

By the time I am looking at all my instruments, I am typically trimmed and flying. Of course, if I had VR or eye tracking I would look far, FAR more often.
