This video makes zero sense. It’s so hard to spin these planes, and even harder to keep it in the spin (as noted by many commenters). That sure seems clearly intentional. And dangerous for those sky divers to be exiting during the spin. What were they thinking? One of the last ones almost got smacked! Were they practicing exiting a spinning plane for some reason (and purposefully putting their lives in danger?
Anyone know the real scoop on this? Seems like the same thing as that guy who jumped out of his plane on purpose for publicity (and got nailed for it).
The entire factory was destroyed in a flood and Piper decided it was too expensive to rebuild the production line. Instead they created the Arrow out of the more budget Cherokee to fill the gap in their product line.
Without a doubt a 70’s/80’s updated and improved Comanche would have been a better aircraft than the Arrow (laminar flow for starters) but it was not to be.
Without the flood there would have been no Arrow and instead a whole bunch of late model Comanche parked on aprons all over the place.
It does make me laugh how one of the best developers make the most rare and random aircraft for flight sim in the Comanche & Aerostar (I know it’s because they personally own these aircraft).
Their Prepar3d store is stealing my heart
P51, B17, Bonanza, Constellation, Texan
Does anyone have experience of these or know if they utilise the accusim 2.0 modelling (or similar)?.
That little Comanche was made with a lot of love. It literally feels real when your flying her. Amazing tbh. Best of the rest.
The background story on YouTube is also really interesting. Wish they had more videos.
The Comanche is great of course but yesterday I took the COWS DA42 for a nice VFR flight in VR and I have to say it feels just as good to hand-fly. I don’t know how they made it feel so great.
We literally just had the discussion that these are split into 2 purchases but only bundled together for votes, so you can’t have all 3 in 1 vote. I put you for the A320 unless you want to change it by removing another entry?
To be a little clearer. Yes, most of their planes use Accusim (some of their really, really older planes don’t, like the Corsair). As @Smidge1106 pointed out, however, they rewrote Accusim for MSFS (which is why it took so long for them to release, (along with the fact they do contract work as well)). A lot do tend to have failure modeling built in, along with component wear, etc… as well as the improved system/flight modeling. They took it to another level in MSFS, but, it’s still good.
Sadly, I think I spent nearly $1000 on A2A stuff in the year or two before MSFS came out (I could finally afford to do that), and now I never fly them. But, if you’re into those sims, they are great, fun planes to fly.
lol, I suppose I’m including other aircraft in that number. But, 9 planes at $50 each is a good chunk of it.
Yeah, looking back, I bought a lot on sale at Orbx, too, including scenery, that I’m including in that number (plus a lot of Razbam, etc). Made me sad I never really got to use the stuff so much, but I’ve been soooo happy with MSFS…
I got back into flying again in 2019, so bought the Just Flight Warrior (back in the day I bought all the Cherokees, as I owned a share in one for a few years), and around 2017-18 I started modeling all the stuff my dad flew and was involved with back in the late 1950’s when he was in the Navy. So I spent a lot of time researching the CV-42 Roosevelt Mediterranean cruise in 1957-58, plus his training time at Saufley and Whiting in T-34’s and T-28’s. Sadly, he washed out after soloing in the T-28 (1957 was quite a draw down year, his flying was exemplary), but did so well on exams he got to choose his assignment, and chose ATC, which he did on that crusise as well as for the Lexington after the cruise for pilots doing carrier quals. It broke his heart that he washed out… but, otherwise, I wouldn’t be here
I saw that and I very much like my FSW Lear(new purchase that I’ve been very excited with) and I did really love the 414, although it’s been completely replaced by the Dukes…
anddd that’s the thing when I saw that as well Beech Sierra does the same thing as the Comanche and well we spoke at length about how awesome the Comanche is. The Lear is something pretty unique with the shortage of good bizjets for MSFS and FSW does good work, I’m very satisfied with my Lear and was very satisfied with the 414 until the piston Duke but they ain’t quite Black Square or A2A level
Anyone else having some even stranger than usual ATC behavior today? I’ll be honest I play around on flight sim when I’m working from home and have a meeting I just have to listen to I can listen just fine while I’m flying, I usually listen to podcasts anyway.
But anyhow I’ve been cruising around Vancouver Island in the Duke using the PMS GTN and actually using the ATC for once and first I requested permission to land at Tofino and they denied me because it was IFR only… I’ve never seen that before even in actual IFR conditions and it’s perfect visibility right now. but okay whatever I had Tofino as a waypoint on the way to someplace else but I deleted my final destination so I could load up the rnav approach, switched to Vancouver center and asked for an IFR plan, which they gave me to a completely different airport that wasn’t Tofino or my original destination? So I just said f this, turned off my radio landed at Tofino and then when I went in to the GTN to load up my original destination the recent list was full of airports in Italy that idt I’ve ever flown to and certainly not in the Duke. Just weird, although the PMS is new for me because it just hadn’t been worth it but because I’ve been flying the Dukes an the Lear a lot which have it for Xbox I figured I’d try it(and so far like it). Does some weirdness like this happen with the PMS or what?
Also yesterday on my way to Vancouver Island on my imaginary trip I stopped at Orcas Island and tuned the traffic channel on approach and departure and there were planes that literally didn’t exist in view at the airport or on the map requesting and receiving clearances from a tower that doesn’t exist on the traffic channel. This is with live weather and traffic and there were zero planes around and it’s not a frequency where you can talk to the tower. Just very odd and I’m scratching my head. Not worth its own topic and people here know things
This is supposed to be the Top 10 aircraft thread, let’s not turn it into another “today’s weird MSFS behaviour” thread as there’s plenty of those already.
