This is a spot-on summary of the Hawk.

I’m not a jet guy at all, but this one may tick all the necessary boxes for me. Sort of reminds me of the Douglas A-4F Skyhawk the Blue Angels used to fly back in the day. That, and the fact that the Red Arrows fly the Hawk is even more to recommend it I guess. Finally, it’s modelled by Just Flight… that is huge.

May have to part with some cash…

It is also surprisingly fun to just cruise around in at relatively low speeds. It makes a believable, “I could own one in real life and I would fly it like this” aircraft. If that makes any sense. Also, the Blues looked the best in the Scooter in my humble opinion. The Hornets look sharp, go fast and make lots of noise but the sheer precision that was conveyed by those tight formations of A-4’s was simply amazing. And with the switch to the low intakes of the Hornets, we lost the formation landing display that made us watch the entire show all the way to touchdown. Anyway, I am sure you will enjoy the Hawk, I believe it is up to the standard that you would hope to get from JF and it would be fun to hear your opinion of it.

It’s been a couple months, let’s update.

Old list:

  1. Big Radials Goose
  2. Flying Iron P-38
  3. Flying Iron Spitfire
  4. Carenado C337
  5. Asobo Ju-52

New list:

  1. PMDG 737 - Wow wow. I worked my way up to this jet and this has been an absolute joy to learn over the past few weeks.

  2. Just Flight BAE-146 - This is such a cool plane, a 4 engine regional, and it’s more of a handful to fly compared to the 737. I love the TMS system, the familiar WT FMS, and there’s a lot of gauges to look at.

  3. Working Title CJ4 - My gateway to airliners, flying commercial routes at crazy high altitudes. It has a nice FMS and not much else to worry about. Best of all it’s free.

  4. Big Radials Goose

  5. Flying Iron P-38 - honestly I haven’t flown either of these in a while but they still make the list.

So, what do you think to the Hawk, KMB?

Hi Baracus250 :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, I did buy it (in the afternoon though) and it is really great fun.

If i’m being really honest, though, so far i’ve just messed about with it flying it like a idiot with lots of low level crazy flying. I’m waiting for my pilot’s licence to be revoked any day now! :slightly_smiling_face:

I am looking forward in the coming days to reading and digesting the user guide and flying it more by the book. This is when the real fun will start and when I will learn to fly it as it was really intended.

I am sure it will be a good purchase. Thank you for your advice :+1:

That’s pretty much all I do in her too

If you want to take the acrobatics seriously check out some of the routines cgaviator has done on his channel a few months back. Really insightful. He explains all the key speeds, movement and moments required to pull off professional grade displays. Some of them he does like step-by-step, pausing it between important moments to explain what should be done, then puts it all together in one fluid sequence. Real good. Need VR or head tracking though.

Just watched part 1 (will watch part 2 tomorrow :slightly_smiling_face:). He obviously knows how to fly it. Quite amazing really.

Incredible skills there even though I think he is a real world Hawk pilot. Might take me a few years to get anything like that good!! :slightly_smiling_face:

He’s a real world Hawk pilot and instructor!

I love how professional and precise and knowledgeable he is.

Be sure to watch his low-level countryside flying in the Hawk and his flying of other planes.

I wish there was a higher fidelity Embraer E-jet on the market. I really like Embraers and they currently dominate the regional jet role at least in the US.

I mainly use old and new military aircraft, along with the classic prop airliners for vfr flying more than the stock GA’s because of the speed and range so they are normally higher on my list than regular GA’s right now the spitfire is the 7th most flown and aerosoft otter is my 6th most flown but they never made the cut line

After reading this discussion and watching ITB’s top ten video, I decided to get the Hawk as well. And wow, what a well made plane this is! I already had the G91, T-45 and F16, and hardly ever flew them. But JustFlight really produced an awesome machine, that is easy to fly, but has a lot of depth if you want to go into the systems. Thank you all for the good advice, this thread is a gift to the community
