Brief description of the issue:

Noticed an update in the microsoft store. It failed to download (see screenshot 1), does not respond to the retry button and cannot be removed.
When trying to open the game, I get a notification for an update but the download fails (see screenshot 2).
On subsequent game openings I get either the same message (with download frozen at the same point, a CTD, or a different error message (see screenshot 3)

No, plenty of disk space, but thanks for the suggestion.

Hoping there is someone out there who has experienced this and found a solution (that does not involve removing and re-downloading the whole sim)!

Update: I have opened a ticket with zendesk.

Just curious, did anyone else see that MSFS update in the Microsoft Store – first screenshot above – and if so, did it update for you without issue?

It was the first time I can recall an update specifically for the sim (as opposed to gamebar, gaming services, xbox, openXR, etc.) appearing in the store.

I never had that issue. I always start MSFS through the icon (or addon linker that at the end is the same) and if an update is available it automatically starts the download. Do you have the same issue if you start normally the sim from the icon ?

Yes. Starting it from the icon is my usual proceedure… and this now results in the error.

Tried it. The repair gave me a check mark, but upon loading the sim same problem. Still can’t finish the update in the store either.

:slightly_frowning_face:. Let’s try something else: if you have an antivirus, temporally disable it.

The update at the outset finished. The game is now on installation manager, but that update seems to be progressing normally. As soon as the game is up and running I’ll mark it solved.

First time I’ve ever had to disable the antivirus for any issue with the game. I wouldn’t have thought of it :upside_down_face:

The game is up and running and I see the update also cleared from the store.
