Your world Map CTD issue could be a 4k resolution problem

I’ve been getting the world map CTD issue for some time now including crashes when loading up flight plans. I got a new 1440p screen for FPS shooters and tested it out on flight sim and had no crash issues. As soon and I went back to my 4k screen got crashes every time, so I tested it over a few hours and always crashed on 4k resolution.

Just figured would post that here if you are having issues with CTD on 4k. 4k resolution is defiantly whats causing my CTD issues.

What I do is plug the 1440p monitor in to choose where to fly from then change back to my 4k monitor once in the game.

Cheers

Could it make a difference whether your sim is running on the primary or the secondary monitor?
Or did you always have just one of the two monitors connected?

Hey, I alway have one connected at a time.

For me it used to crash a couple of times soon after SU5 released, but not anymore and i have a 4K monitor. (Did a clean re-install in the mean time though)

I’m having CTD from the world map on a 4k monitor, but I’m only using 1440p resolution. Perhaps it is the monitor itself?

Hmm, the only time I’ve had CTD’s while interacting with flight plans, was, trying to load a flight plan I had previously saved. I’d more likely attribute CTD’s associated with flight plans, with… flight plans. After that experience, I no longer even attempt to save flight plans. I have zero trust in MSFS’s ability to read existing flight plans.

The whole waypoint thing is pretty buggy, still, a year later. I’m not sure what that’s about, but, perhaps it’s related to I think waypoints are limited to 4 characters or something, and a bunch have 5, and then there are the fake user waypoints, and the new TIMECLIMB and the like. If the people adding waypoint data to the database don’t pay attention to rules associated with their size, and/or if there are more characters in a name than are expected, that would introduce prime CTD candidate situations, as they overwrite memory they shouldn’t.

Now add in people who try to import flight plans from other software like Little Nav Map and Sim Brief, and you’re really looking at situations that can cause CTD’s if those flight plans aren’t perfectly written, or if the MSFS flight plan loader is in any way sloppy about how it reads the data and organizes it.
