ISSUE DESCRIPTION
Description of the issue:
The Zeppelin NT’s constant-speed propeller system is not simulated.
Expected behavior (real aircraft):
The engines are started with the propeller governor OFF.
With the governor OFF:
- The black thrust lever controls propeller blade pitch.
- The blue RPM lever directly controls the engine throttle (this is correct, although it may seem counterintuitive).
A normal engine start is performed as follows:
- Thrust lever at the T/O detent.
- RPM lever (throttle) at approximately 1/8 travel.
- After engine start, advance the RPM lever to establish approximately 1500 RPM.
- Idle RPM in this mode is approximately 1200 RPM.
After engine start, several system checks are performed, including magneto and hydraulic checks. Once these are complete, the propeller governors are switched ON.
With the governor ON:
- The blue RPM lever no longer controls the throttle directly.
- Instead, it sets the target propeller RPM, while the governor automatically adjusts engine throttle to maintain the selected RPM as propeller pitch changes.
- The normal operating range is 1400–2600 RPM.
- At approximately 2725 RPM, engine power is automatically reduced to protect the engine.
- At approximately 2900 RPM, the ignition is cut and the engine shuts down.
A typical cruise power setting is (all three engines):
- Thrust lever at the T/O detent (14° propeller pitch)
- approximately 16 inHg manifold pressure
- 2080 RPM
This results in approximately:
- 780°C EGT
- 13 kg/h fuel flow per engine
- 34–36 KIAS
Current behavior in the simulator:

The governor pushbuttons have no effect.

The engines do not maintain a constant RPM when propeller pitch is changed.

The normal governed RPM range is not maintained.

The normal cruise power setting described above cannot be established.
