0% Waiting For Authentication Issue Jan 30 2026

Looks like logging out and back into Xbox worked for me, I was able to start the sim and got into Free Flight.

“Internet connection required” is not from this issue.
This issue has an alarm that states “0% Waiting for Authentication”

Check to make sure the sim has a good connection to the net and that no firewall etc. is preventing it.
You could also complete the “Submit a Request” form in the Sim Support tab at the top of every forum page.
That will be forwarded to MSFS support that may be able to help.

I have a problem 002-902. My config is MS Windows 11 25H2 Steam MFC24 I tried to delete the cache C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\cache\0000_0001_0005 does not help. Dont wotk. This issue has an alarm that states “0% Waiting for Authentication”

Try deleting and reinstalling xbox app

Did we get an explanation of what went wrong, and changes made to prevent the problem again?

I sense that many users are not confident of the streaming services. Good communication is important.

In the old days we were very sure that FSX would keep working. It was more reliable.

So much of the world has changed since FSX.
Streaming is now a necessary evil for a good many apps we use today.
MSFS particularly so, as it’s huge size prevents it from being installed on the vast majority of devices, unlike FSX which was a direct installation to disk.
As long as apps are streamed, this type of issue can and most likely will ocassionally occur.

I would argue it does not need to be streamed.

2TB of hard disk are sitting unloved in a drawer. That’s enough for a few favourite airports and fields from 38,000ft.

Used 4TB disks are down to £20.

Give me the opportunity to run without the internet and I’ll prove it.

In Xplane you selectively download scenery by clicking on a World map.

Hello. I am now stuck since a month with 0% Waiting for Authentication, and I am speding around 1 hour per day searching the web. I tried all suggestions except reinstalling Windows 11.

I found a solution which is using a different Windows Profile (Local account) had to connect to the Windows XBox App, but with different Windows account it works. So there is clearly something stuck in the Windows Profile.

I’ve also found a workaround for me. Right-click on your internet connection or otherwise find the “airplane mode” and toggle the connection on and off. I’ve yet to play with it to isolate whether it’s my ethernet connection, WiFi, or Bluetooth that might be an issue, but by toggling airplane mode it temporarily shuts down and starts them all again which immediately started my authentication/activation slowdown back to normal. I’ve tried just disconnecting and reconnecting the ethernet, but that didn’t seem to fix it, so it might have to do with these other settings. I’ll have to try disabling the others to see if one is specifically the problem. All I know is that I’ve been able to consistently get the process running normally again by toggling all the WiFi, Bluetooth, Ethernet connections off by the toggling the airplane mode. Hope this helps others.

I also uninstalled and reinstalled MSFS 2024 twice…argh. This problem started suddenly just two days ago for me. I have no idea what might have caused it. I updated all drivers after the problem started and that didn’t help either. I cleared my community folder and synced my date/time - nothing helped. Only toggling my airplane mode fixed it temporarily, but I had to repeat the process every time I restart the game. I have not tried the alt-enter combo yet.

Why should we have to do any of this…
