[1.6.16.0] SU4 Beta Survey - Performance (PC)

A post was merged into an existing topic: [1.6.16.0] SU4 Beta Survey - Performance (VR)

Just completed a flight in the Fenix 320 from Austin to LAX, using the DDT scenery for AUS and the iniBuilds scenery for LAX. Also using BATC with max traffic and dynamic LOD enabled. Overall, performance was good, with just one or two very minor stutters on approach that didn’t affect my landing at all. In SU2 and SU3, LAX was a nightmare to land at with terrible performance hits, but this went pretty well. Maxed out RAM after landing which caused some slowdowns but nothing too major.

This is definitely going in the right direction.

I’d say we’re going backwards here. Last build had significantly better performance than the current build. Getting micro stutters when taxiing again. I replaced a 3060 with a 5060TI over the course of the SU4 betas and I can really tell the difference when performance changes build to build. Will the PS5 help us or hinder us? I wonder. I already wish they’d fork Xbox into it’s own development stream and now the PS5. We suffer with WASM because of Xbox. They really have to get SU4 right before they finalize it as this essentially would make MSFS 2024 the product it should have been. MSFS 2025!!

in this build i have severly worse performance when injecting traffic with batc in the sim

Updated to the latest nvidia driver, that seemed to improve but…
After flying the whole day it seems the performance is ok at the first approach after launching msfs. Then after flying additional approaches the performance deteriorates every landing… after 5-6 landings the game is a slideshow. And msfs has to be restarted…. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Seems to be time of day dependent as well, now it is unplayable all the time even after restarting the sim and the computer… :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I have got perfect performance on my 3060 laptop. Just needed to remove all caches, make sure HAGS is on.
And sometime, I have to restart the game otherwise between 2 flights it became unplayable.

I turned HAGS OFF and saw far fewer stutters in EGLL(Ini) while landing. (5950x,64GB,3090, 581.57, DLSS performance, 4k output, FPS locked at 30, 2x external FG)

Dear devs,

I hope that performance optimizations are still ongoing for SU4.

Voted Great. Very good FPS and it’s butter smooth. Not coming across stuttering. Playing maxed out aside from Terrain LOD at 300.

The main problem for me is the jittery performance when panning around the cockpit, regardless of whether I use tobii head tracking or not.

Performance is one of those eternal dev tasks I think. They probably won’t ever stop working on it I some capacity, but you’re right in that it should stay as a core focus a bit longer.

Reduced my vote from Great to good as some airports are performing worse, e.g. KLAX and RCTP

I finally flew .16 this evening. The weather is so lovely right now off the coast of CA with fantastic low level clouds along the coast and slightly inland. The pink and orange skies looked great in the sim.

It was the first time I’ve done some twilight into night flying since the recent night lighting improvements and I was seriously wowed by it all. Great job on those improvements! I see more twilight flights in my future.

Anyhow, I flew the Blackbird C310R from KSMO (AG Sim) to KPRB (auto-gen). I experienced some of the panning stutters once I was airborne. I’d just cleared the Sepulveda Pass (north of the Getty Museum) as I flew northward, and when I moved my head left and right (via Tobii) I got some stutters. I guess these must be the panning stutters I am reading about. It is unclear what the cause/source of those would be. Interestingly, this was the only place I noted the panning-related stutters.

I also had a very mild stutter as I taxied to parking at KPRB, but none on the approach/final/landing, which was great.

The flight was otherwise excellent. Oh, I flew VFR with no traffic.

I’d love to know why we still get these stutters; especially with such a low-impact install/aircraft/scenery configuration. However this build is better, for me, than .15, so far.

it’s to be noted that the 310, though ā€œcompatibleā€ with 2024… isn’t native and will not run as such.

I definitely recognize that, but I don’t think it’s to blame here. The stutters I’m seeing have been reported by others, and I’ve seen similar behavior in many aircraft from various devs.
