XSX. 32GB cache. All graphics and online options set to off with the exception of multiplayer and live weather.
I’ve done a lot of flying these last 3 days and I have to say it’s starting to look a bit more positive. A330 certainly seems to be the best performer for me. I’ve landed into some third party and large default airports and not had the usual performance issues or stutters. Quite a few relatively flawless flights now. I’m still importing Simbrief via the EFB and used the MSFS EFB to get my landing data for entering into the approach page on the FMC.
My working theory is that not resetting the cache is helping my performance. I’ve done a lot of cache resetting over the course of the beta and there has been numerous niggles and issues that have followed. I haven’t reset my cache since before the previous beta update now and things are running pretty smooth, which interestingly aligns with my previous experience of cache resetting and then not doing in the SU3 beta.
Funny you should say that about the cache. I always thought it was just coincidence, but every time I reset my cache I get stutters for a bit and then after quite a few flights, it seems to get better, although still not perfect. Are you using ATC too on your flights?
Yeah it definitely causes problems for me. And it’s not just stutters - it has weird effects on braking and the overall sensitivity of the aircraft. I’d be interested to know what your performance was like in a week or so’s time if you left it be. And no I never use the ATC.
To be honest with you I’ve had enough of 24 at the moment. I’m not wasting my free time any more trying to troubleshoot all the time. My free time is precious, and if I do want to do a flight, I use 2020 now, as I’m pretty much guaranteed a stress free experience. I will go back to 24 once the issues are fixed, if they every do get fixed that is, but until then I’m done with it. I know it’s a beta, but the only reason I’m on the beta is because SU3 is virtually unusable.
Yeah, very interesting as I’ve noted that I get much more stuttering on my first flights with a new build of the beta. I’d put it down to servers being busier but thinking about it, I’ve always reset my cache too - without fail…
Landed in Doha with the A359 from Madrid with no simbrief use. It was looking so good until I got to about 600ft and then the freezes started and never stopped. So I’m still not writing off the idea that importing a simbrief plan takes up memory, but it’s only part of the problem
I almost can’t beleive I’m about to say this, but I have just had a very smooth flight in the default 737 MAX. Glasgow to Manchester. Same settings as before, everything on apart from ATC. Smooth FPS all the way to touchdown with just a couple of stutters when I engaged reverse thrust.
The aircraft itself still has issues which Im sure are documented in other threads, but performance-wise it was spot on. Another first for me and 2024.
Interestingly, the 737 has no simbrief integration (that I could find anyway) so I had to use the built in planner and EFB a lot. Used it to view approach charts etc too, and it didnt seem to cause any degradation of performance at all.
At this point, for me anyway, the most likely culprit for bad performance seems to be ATC, made even worse by broken traffic getting stuck on the ground at airports.
I don’t get it. I used the sim the other day with ATC on and no efb and had 2 perfect flights, though I haven’t used it yet with the latest patch. I have a flight planned for the morning
Yesterday I did my first flight on this beta from Spinoza’s KSAC to Flightbeam’s KSFO in the C172 G1000 – it went very well overall. I had some minor stutters at the departure airport; flight was good; approach and landing were amazingly good; what was weird is that I got a monster stutter/pause after exiting the runway and heading for the main terminal.
I repeated the same flight today assuming the monster pause was due to the airport being ‘not all there’ yet – Todays flight had no monster pause or even barely a stutter to even notice at KSFO.
