2024 ActiveSky Weather Program Main Thread

You’ll need to download the early beta build from the link above, the 9144 build is not compatible.

I had some trouble downloading the version from the HiFi forum thread and kept installing an older version. I was able to update now!

Loaded up at Kuala Lumpur - WMKK - for fun and lots of thunderstorms at the moment of writing this post - around the airport; very impressive! The weather depiction is great right now here; some nicely built up Cumulonimbus with lightning coming from within and around; not just random lightning all around.

I’m still on SU1. Do I need to wait for SU2 to come out of Beta before I can install ActiveSky?
I used in in FS2020, but I’m done with that version.

And I don’t do Betas…

Not at all, @BegottenPoet228. You can go to the hifi website and download the stable version for su1.

Thank you !!

A new update for the SU2 version came out today. It’s working fine for me with one minor issue perhaps. When I spawned at an airport just across the bay from KSFO, initially I was in a howling blizzard. Then after a few seconds it was sunny with high altitude clouds only.

Hi all, I have problems with msfs live weather (2020 and 2024): On flights over 8h I often have a brutal meteo change that triggers AP disconnection (with 777, 350 …). Since I’m not in front of my PC all the time I can’t perform such long flights safely. So I have a simple question to ActiveSky owners: do you experience such brutal weather changes and thus AP disconnection with ActiveSky?
Thanks!

For me, weather transitions on ASFS are quite smooth on default settings. There are settings where you can adjust the smoothness of the weather transitions to your liking, from instant to very slow.

Thanks! Thus tempted to buy ASFS!

Weather transitions for me are very smooth with ASFS, all I can say is you won’t regret buying it.

I had the same thing happen, but only the first time I used it since installing the new version, hasn’t happened to me since, all subsequent sim launches with ASFS have been without issues.

I am mainly flying Airliners, are people using the clone weather at dest/dep setting?

I check both active sky and aircraft tablet to see any difference, but mostly go by active sky dep/arr information

No, I mean there is a setting in AS to clone the weather around departure and destination airport to avoid weather changing close to the airport.

Was just wondering if people were using this setting or not.

I don’t use it. I keep the weather live
