You’re right, it’s crazy, yesterday I made sure to set this option to ULTRA and I immediately saw the nameplates appear around my plane. Today, without having changed anything, I don’t see any multiplayer nameplate.
I’m having the same issues the past couple days. First week multiplayer worked flawlessly, the past two days seeing other players in sim is spotty and unfunctional at times as well as seeing the AI traffic.

Yesterday I couldn’t see any multiplayers. Today I can, with the same settings. I think Asobo is changing a lot of these settings day by day or even faster.
What’s strange is I’m getting different levels of detail on the namplates from one aircraft to the next. And it changes minute to minute. Sometimes I’m seeing what looks like a username, aircraft type, distance and altitude. Most of the time I see only a user name if its multiplayer and airline+flight number if its AI.
It seem the maximum range you can see other players is only 5 miles. And you can’t see them on the map in EFB - I have the option Traffic turned ON but no traffic ever shows up in the EFB map. The VFR map function of FS2020 that shows multiplayers is missing in FS2024. This was very useful to follow a group flight. So these two features are very poor in comparison to FS2020.
My settings now:
Global Rendering Quality: Medium. I don’t have to change any defaults.
Live Weather and Time: Doesn’t seem to matter.
Aircraft Traffic Type: Off will still show Multiplayers but will eliminate AI aircraft.
Multiplayer: On
Server: You will only see other players who are also on the same server you have selected.

We set “Live Weather” and Live Players but only he can see me.
We tried with “All Players” but every time I tried to set “All Players” it was set back to “Live Players”.

@MajorAlan70 this was my problem. we get no warning that traffic was disabled when choosing multiplayer… and support didnt help at all, i volunteered to provide logs for testing(which im sure wouldve shown this) but i was told there was nothing i could do. i was only able to fix this with help from someone in a twitch stream… they absolutely need to add a warning message when multiplayer is selected and this setting is turned off by default.

Oh and “friends” are default set to off in filters??? 
And reverts to default after I select friends on the next game launch.

• My friend sees me but i cant see him, and they say when they see my plane the propeller is not spinning even when my plane is started.
Same issue here. Cant see other Players on “Live Players” Option. The Option for All Players doesn’t work with live weather.

managed to get green aircraft to show up on map but are not moving , load in and no aircraft or name plates , my friends see me but i can’t see them … pc gamepass …

• I can see all the green aircraft on the map, as soon as I load in to the airport, everyone disappears. Friends can see me, but I can’t see them. Fresh install, multiplayer is on, name plates are on, Air Traffic is set to Ultra,

Name tag display distance is massively nerfed in 2024. Can’t be more than 10 miles or so when it used to be 100. Makes airliners group flights a bit rubbish

Name Tag Distance is very low. The skies are very lonely when it is working, but also the changing of Live weather and live traffic makes people dissapear, even if I set ALL PLAYERS in the Flight Conditions menu before entering. I will Dissappear from other players View once I modify the ingame setting to anything other than live time and live weather

Same problem as everyone else, friends see me but I don’t see anyone. All settings have been set as provided by everyone else, including turning off live weather since that constantly would put me on live players instead of all players.
Sometimes if other players leave the aircraft I see them only if I am very close to them, once they return to their aircraft their character stays static on my screen.
I am wondering how many ppl reporting on this purchased the game via steam or ms store. I have it through game pass and Xbox app likes to put me in offline mode. Could this be causing the issue?
Posting here on behalf of a friend who is also having this issue. They have the MS Store version on PC.
The issue began after Patch 3. Prior to that, we were able to see each other without a problem. With Patch 3, while they are visible to me in multiplayer, my friend cannot see any other multiplayer aircraft including my aircraft.
However, anytime someone exits their aircraft to walk around they can see the player avatars, but NOT the aircraft.
To anyone not having issues you can test this effect yourself by going into your graphics options and turn Air Traffic to OFF. You will notice that you cannot see multiplayer aircraft, but you can see player avatars if they exit the aircraft.
The people that are having this issue though (my friend included) do NOT have their Air Traffic setting set to OFF. In fact, my friend has it set to ULTRA. The issue persists. We have checked the UserCfg.opt file to confirm that the Air Traffic setting was indeed set to ULTRA.
Here’s a list of things we’ve attempted to resolve the problem:
- Deleted the UserCfg.opt file and let the sim regenerate a new one
- Changed multiplayer servers
- Delete and re-create a new rolling cache
- Tried both Live Players and All Players in the flight conditions menu
- Created a group flight via friends list
- Completely re-install the sim (we’ve done so 3 times now)
- Ran the sim with no addons
- Installed the sim on a different drive
- Tried using a completely different internet connection
- Installed the sim on a PC that has never had the sim on it before
At this point we are at a loss of what to do next.

Can you uncheck Multiplayer under Settings/online?
Yes, the option is there to turn on and off multiplayer. Turning it off and back on does not appear to fix anything. Thanks for mentioning that, forgot to add it to the extensive list above. 
We also tried the steps listed here to potentially “reset” the cloud save to no avail.
