[A319, A320, A321] Fenix High-Fidelity Aircraft

There is, also have on in Air Manager that I use, however both of these require pop outs which decrease performance.

Natively supported remote browser capability (like the EFB) will eliminate the need for another pop out.

And in my case, another space desk connection, Air Manager instrument, etc… In an aircraft that is resource intensive enough as it is, one less hit is welcomed.

Agreed, I don’t usually fly the Fenix because of performance issues and touchdown freezing, maybe using the popout FMS is part of the issue. I look forward to native remote FMS support and the update block 2 which hopefully fixes the performance issues.

It could be, because I have 45 landings in this plane and have never experienced “touchdown freezing”.

Yeah, surely everyone would be happy for some extra frames, though there is a tiny sentence in their video:
“We feel like there’s a little bit more on the table for optimization, but it currently nets out to be similar to the version on your pc right now, which we’re pretty happy with overall”.

2000hrs and countless landings in this plane, but never had any issue either (not just landing). Popouts was always a weak point in MSFS

But that is for a different sim. So comparing it is silly. Its like me saying PMDG 737 is better than the Zibo. It is better but only in P3D. The Zibo is better in Xplane

The only performance issues I’ve had with the Fenix are: 1) MDCU/FMS keypad buttons are slow to respond, but apparently that’s by design to match the real plane? At least that’s what someone said when I asked in their Discord. 2) sometimes the refresh rate of the PFD (i.e. altitude ribbon) is considerably slower than the overall sim FPS, which is usually around 50 on my rig.

These two items seem to correlate…when the MDCU/FMS buttons are extra slow to echo on the scratch pad, the PFD refresh rate seems slower as well. I can live with both of these.

The only landing freezing I’ve had is landing in snowy/icy conditions and forgetting to turn on the pitot heat (I guess “auto” isn’t good enough, needs to be "on???) . The airspeed indicator “freezes” and everything goes haywire. Live and learn…but landed both times on manual throttle and guessing the speed.

I’ve had an error since updating Dune, the Fenix app doesn’t connect to my plane, I reinstalled the Fenix yesterday, then it worked for a while, today I want to start the plane, the same problem, have any of you noticed this too ?

I got that fixed by using the “alternative display renderer” (in the Fenix app).

Yes, I had this issue yesterday right after the Dune update was installed. I had to restart PC to get everything up & running again.

Installed Dune and no issues.

…but have you tried the hidden wizzard displays?

Hey, my friend. I also downloaded the Dune update and have zero issues.

But I was also having unrelated issues with the Fenix App disconnecting from the sim, either when loading the flight or during a flight. This YT video from EasyJestSimPilot offers and obscure “fix” for the issue, and so far the results are good. Check it out, but YMMV.

I’ll give this a try, thanks! (And maybe the Wizard mode as well!)

I’ve had that a couple of times and I would say that this is unrealistic compared to the actual aircraft, which I flew.

Of course, it’s difficult to say that that there are NO circumstances that icing couldn’t override the pitot heat. But it seems like it happens way too easily.

Someone said that Fenix advocates turning the icing effect off, which I did. Up to you if course if you want to do that. :slightly_smiling_face:

That was a direct reply to my earlier question:

Nothing silly about it. Although the Challenger 650 is a bizjet not airliner, so it didn’t answer my question but is interesting nevertheless.

more metal (bigger and heavier) does not mean an aircraft is more complex.
the CL650 is the only simulated aircraft in a desktop sim which simulates the real thing with all components.
of course you can compare aircraft, also over different sims.why not !

As I understand it, the GE34 engine series is used throughout the CRJ series as well as the 600 and 800 series, so yeah it’s not on an airliner in this example, but it’s simulating a variant of the same engine family so I think it qualifies. YMMV.

Set “Alternative Display Renderer”, boom, works MUCH faster, both the MDCU button response and the FCU/Autopilot panel. Thanks a million!

Swallowing my pride here to ask for help - what went wrong on this landing?? All set up for autoland catIII, turned off autopilot and autothrust at 100 feet and banked HARD to the left, slamming it down into the runway when trying to recover the bank. Landing into a 5kt headwind. Alarms going off all over the place.

Does it not like me taking over when I’m set up for autoland? I’m still getting comfortable with this plane. Maybe I need to revisit my AP disconnect and AT disconnect bindings? Dunno what they are off hand but they are set up through SPAD and I feel like they’ve worked in the past.

First time in a jet in about two weeks and felt overmatched…sad how quick you forget some things.

Did you install FSRealistic? If so disable it. This can also be caused by control gremlins in your input hardware. The Fenix discord has a community support area which is very active and has heaps of advice, you could search that for starters.
