[A319, A320, A321] Fenix High-Fidelity Aircraft

The official documents have not been updated for a long time, and what we see may still be the manual for early products. For example, an article describing the options in the fenix+app.
They are not a sophisticated team, and the operating costs may be too high.

A full manual is accessible from EFB. Go to Documents in OFP app.

In the Fenix livery manager, on the options page, there is the possibility to choose 4k liveries.
I’m also interested in your second question.

I think in the manual it suggests pulling up Developer’s Mode and finding the CPU/GPU monitor. Choose the one that seems like it can handle the greater workload since it suggests that
it would be less likely to bog down the system.

I confess that I have not tried this yet myself.

Is it possible to go back? I would probably do that myself.

From cabin view, the sound of engines is too low and the pack too loud. Especially on takeoff, the A320 does not make that cabin sound at all on takeoff, it definitely lacks loudness and roar.

You can get liveries from www.flightsim.to There are tons of them there, but be sure you download liveries compatible with V2B2 (is indicated in the description of each livery if it’s compatible). Liveries from V1 and V2B1 are not compatible with this last update.

That the textures used by PMDG are worse or older than those used by Fenix does not mean anything in 3D modeling. It may well be that PMDG’s 3D modeling uses more modern techniques and programming than Fenix despite certain older textures they have used. Do not confuse textures with 3D modeling, something very common.

Fenix have just redone their modelling code for B2. In fact the massive delay was because their usage was too modern, they were trying something nobody else does but they had to roll some back because of bugs in the asobo tooling.

This claim that Fenix are using outdated methods sounds like unfounded rumour and doesn’t really stack up to logic.

I don’t confuse anything. I do 3D modelling for a living. I know what texture and 3D object is. The difference in 3D model is very apparent even from the pictures I posted. Where Fenix modelled details such lights, cabin, wheel wells PMDG used flat textures. Just compare these lights. On the top is just a flat texture applied to the wing surface, while Fenix modelled every possible detail of the lights. “More modern techniques” LOL.

If you want to see PMDG’s texture approach, you may need to check the cockpit of the DC-6. 2d textures are everwhere. And they stated that they are not going to fix or improve it.

For facts direct from Aamir. Also scroll up in that thread for graphs showing Fenix fps as good as PMDG at least on the measured system. There does seem to be a lot of FUD spread around.

Also:

We’re using some state-of-the-art modelling techniques to increase visual quality without increasing memory usage or drawcalls, but as we’re the only ones really utilising these aspects of the SDK, there’s a lot of ‘first time’ discoveries being made about the effect on some systems. With time we will improve it.

I recommend this video and the next three next which take you through a single flight. They were made with the v1 version but cover the Airbus aircraft and sim control interface so should be the same or similar enough to understand how to fly the A320. They helped me understand Airbus methods a lot. https://youtu.be/BtLmeqQ_6fU

Choosing between CFM and IAE engines make any difference at all in range / fuel consumption or anything else?

I also tried to load the EFB to be able to use my iphone for the MCDU as im using my ipad for the EFB, safari always says unbale to load, any tips on what im doing wrong?

I’ve got an i7 10700, 16 gig of fast RAM and a 3060Ti. Do you guys think my machine is sufficient to get acceptable frame rates (not running in 4K) but have most graphics settings toward the high side in the sim.

I think high should probably be OK, you may need to tweak the LOD down a bit. I don’t think you want to be using ultra, but YMMV.

Try another browser like Chrome, works like a charm on my iPhone. Never tried safari though.

If you can run the PMDG 737, you will be able to run the Fenix A320. They are in a similar state as far as FPS consumption is concerned. I have an i7 12600K, 32Gb RAM and Nvidia 3060 and I can run the Fenix at 60fps in 4k (about 30-40 fps in big and detailed airports) with most graphic settings in “high”. I think you can run the Fenix with your specifications to spare (they are similar to mine).

Via the old installation file. I always save it in case the new version causes massive problems, so I can go back.

PMDG 777 will be interesting to see where they say it will be their finest aircraft till date.
