I don’t put any stock in brand loyalty or stereotypes. These products vary from run to run, generation to generation, so I just go by the numbers rather than past experience. My previous build was an Intel. For what it’s worth, AMD did beat Intel in the last processor match-up when it came to Flight Simulator:
The difference in those numbers might actually matter if you’re doing VR and need to eek out all the performance you can get to make it to the next level when you lock to the refresh rate of the headset.
And the 11900 is being panned as a bad deal, with the equally priced 5900x still beating it in some gaming benchmarks, while the extra cores on the 5900x make it much faster in multithreaded apps. Multithreaded performance might matter more in Flight Simulator after the DX12 update as well.
For 2D flying, I’m nearly universally GPU bound at 4k Ultra, even with an overclocked 3090, so the GPU might actually be more the important factor here.
