Airbus A320neo vs Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner

Is The A320NX free download? and if I download this, will I have the option to select the default A320 or the A320NX? and if I donr like it will I be able to remove it? Thanks

Yes, the stock is still there.

Yes. You have both available. They have an installer app for the A320NX. Iā€™m assuming you are on PC here. XBox is stuck with the default A320Neo.

How do I unistall the A320NX? because my instruments look like this and also it takes ages to load.

Yeapp, thatā€™s just how it is, instruments need some time to warm up, and you also need to switch the ADIRS knobs to NAV on the overhead panel which also takes some time to calibrate. You also need to brighten up the instruments display using the knobs.

You can see my whole cold and dark process in my video above.

But if you want to fly the default A320, you donā€™t really need to uninstall it. You can just select the default Asobo A320 on the aircraft selection menu.

Is there a shorter/fast startup procedure to the NX than working through the massive checklists that come with it? Iā€™d really like to start at the gate again once in a while. I think I tried CTRL-E and co-pilot startup already and some stuff didnā€™t start properly (I think it was the PFDā€™s)?

You uninstall it by deleting its directory that is located in your community folder. Iā€™d persevere though as it is way better than the default A320. It does take a longer time to load, and it is better if you have soem A320 experience before jumping right on in. There are plenty of YouTube videos on the A320Neo for fundamentals.

Hereā€™s an overly simplified steps to start up the engines without going through the entire checklist. Itā€™s how I always do it. The one in my video above takes longer because Iā€™m using FS2Crew and PACX and they simulate passenger boarding time. But as far as the starting up is concerned, Iā€™ve drilled them down to the quickest way to do them with these overly simplified steps:

  1. Turn on both Batteries.
  2. Turn on Ext. Power (If available).
  3. Turn on all Fuel Pumps. (When you turn on Ext. Power, you should see Fuel Pump buttons as OFF in white lights. Press them all to turn them on and extinguish the white OFF lights. Engine Generator 2 showing FAULT is normal. This is because while your engine is off, the engine does not supply the electricity, thatā€™s why the Generator is showing FAULT. This will be extinguished once your engine is running and the engine is supplying the electricity through the generator).
  4. Turn on APU Master Switch.
  5. Turn on APU Start. Wait until the Green AVAIL is lit.
  6. Turn on APU Bleed.
  7. Switch Engine Mode selector to IGN/START.
  8. Start your Pushback.
  9. Flip the Engine 2 Master Switch to ON. Wait until engine is stabilised and AVAIL is shown on the Upper ECAM screen.
  10. Flip the Engine 1 Master Switch to ON. Wait until engine is stabilised and AVAIL is shown on the Upper ECAM screen.
  11. Turn off APU Bleed and APU Master Switch.
  12. Then you can continue with taxiing.

Donā€™t worry about vertical speed, concentrate on air speed. The faster your air speed the slower your climb in the Airbus. . For climbing above 10,000 ft I use selected speed of about 273 which will get you about 2500 ft per minute which will gradually reduce to about 800 ft per minute at about 30,000 depending on weight and fuel. The managed control speed of 320 above 10,000 is way too fast. So for me, flying at managed speed up to 10,000 and then 270ish selected above gets me a nice easy climb. On decent I use about 250 selected all the down to 10000 ft then managed under that though I sometimes keep it at 240 selected if I think dec is going to slow me down too much and I have a longer distance to airport. Anyway thatā€™s how I do it and she flys like a kitten. This is the default A320 Iā€™m talking about. I use to be a Boeing fan but Iā€™m in the Airbus camp now.

Edit: keep in mind that 270 true air speed is faster at 30,000 ft than at 10,000 ft hence the slower climb rate at 30000. I use managed speed at cruise. I know when itā€™s time to descend because my engines will spool down when descent comes on my MCDU. Iā€™m not a pro here at all but just do what I feel works.

There is an option to load ADIRS nav instantly as well on The EFB so you dont have to wait 7 mins. Which I know you knowā€¦just for people that want it instantly.

Excellent , Thatā€™s what I wanted. Thanks. The reasin I deleted the A320 NX is because it was always going into the Pushback mode and I could never stop it and the dispay was saying Map Not available. Anywat the default one is just fine and enjoyable. It migh not be 100% correct as far as technical specs but after all I am not a real pilot and I dont want to be.

Just researching this this morning as I have this too on cold startup. You need to go to the overhead panel (far top left) to the
ADIRS PANEL: IR1 to NAV, IR2 to NAV and IR3 to NAV

then

in MCDU:
INIT PAGE A ā†’ IRS INIT-> ALIGN ON REF (then wait 7 mins)

They should all look normal after that. Just did this this morning.

Many thanks for this. Very useful. Iā€™d add turning ignition switch back to NORM too at the end. It seems close to the default Neo startup steps. Also found the PFD/NAV power up requirements this morning too via the ADIRS panel switches and MCDU INIT of the GPS alignment. Think Iā€™m there now for a quick manual start in the NX. :+1:
I also had a TCAS standby warnig which Iā€™ve figured out too.

You can of course dispense with starting up the NX by choosing a departure from a runway then everything is already powered up. If you want to check the plane out without startign it up that is.

We wait long enough for MSFS to load so I cant wait for another 7 !!! minutes. The default A320 will do just fine for me. But in any case thanks for the information.

As many I have trieb both and become much more familiar and comfortable with the 787.

I hope the 787 come to an equivalent state as the FBW Airbus when working title stars to improve the premium aircraft next year.

It is good to have both aircraft in the game so each one can pick out his favorite or fly both of them.

I would certainly think it would, just take a look at the CJ4.

I like both myself; itā€™s horses for courses. At some airports, the Boeingā€™s a bit of a squeeze. But I wouldnā€™t fly from London to Sydney in a 320!

Regarding the climb rate, the Airbus is a companyā€™s plane more than a pilotā€™'s plane and in managed mode it will be a bit conservative for best economy. You can enter a higher cost index in the FMC, but I donā€™t know if any change in performance would be modelled in the sim; Iā€™m still a beginner with the heavies.

Thereā€™s always CTRL-E to get a quick start up without fuss. CTRL-SHIFT-E to shut down.
