Aircraft maintenance costs based on the current state of parts

Another repair bill just torpedoed my entire week’s grind. I’m not building a fleet; I’m just desperately trying to keep my head above water while some insane repair fees try to sink me. This is beyond frustrating. I’m taking a break from career mode until they fix this. Why bother putting in the time and effort when you just get punished for it? I’m sick of it.

Yep that’s the one and we were all getting it, so clearly there is a bug because how are we all getting the same repairs bills, when we have separate careers and crew.

I get that bill sometimes, and I never go longer than 6hrs between mechanic checks, so in 6hrs our planes can go from new/good to completely broken costing half of what the plane is new

Yep, I own one and it sits on OFF. I won’t even bother owning a passive one - your earnings are rubbish. It is still the GA that make profit - not the CJ4 and up. God help everyone when the Beluga comes online if these maintenance costs are anything to go by!

You need to look at Darkstar’s workings - very, very informative

I’m finding it so frustrating that the career mode, which should be the best part of this game, is so broken and unbalanced. I’m having to force myself to play because the system feels completely unfair.

The “left the parking stand” bug has made my 737 unusable, which is a major part of the gameplay. And on top of that, any passive income I do get is immediately eaten up by checks and repairs. It’s a lose-lose situation.

What’s the point of investing in a Longitude when there are no high-paying missions in Europe to make it viable? I’m stuck flying the PC24 on repetitive, low-paying missions, and it’s killing the enjoyment for me. Is anyone else feeling this way?

Yes, absolutely :100:. I personally feel that they won’t give it attention until stability is improved. If folk cannot fly a to b without CTDs, freezes, MT issues etc, etc, this is very sadly on the back burner.

100% they should sort out the performance first and foremost, because I play on Xbox and it’s been very hit and miss. Some days I can play, and others the game is unplayable. Hopefully, they’ll take notice of posts like this and sort it out in the future. For now, I’m going to bench my 737 and just fly my other medium aircraft’s.

Yep, add ridiculous grindy aircraft maintenance to the list of things definitely NOT fixed in SU3, contrary to Jorg’s peppy gamescon claims about it. → 2024 Career Mode - #3444 by Sonicviz

The maintenance system really grinds my gears. As I said, I can’t fly my 737 because the mission bugs out, causing me to crash and lose millions. Many people have experienced this bug, yet according to the developers, it’s “no repo,” so it’s never getting fixed.

I’ve had to resort to using my 737 for passive income. I get just under 1M an hour but received a maintenance bill for over 40M. That’s about 40 hours of passive income gone up in smoke. I haven’t even flown that many hours—maybe 20 hours this week—because I can only play about three hours a day, a little more if I’m working from home. So I’m basically at a massive loss, all that grinding for nothing.

So sorry mate . A while back I worked out for passive income the c208, the TBM, DA62 were best for passive income. Oddly the PC 12 and 24 were not far behind but obviously higher in maintenance. Skydiving c208 is best for passive but slightly more expensive to buy initially. 737 is the worst as will be born out by Darkstars tables. Honestly, have a gander at those. I have decided to fly the larger craft in free flight simply because the penalties are unfair if their game crashes your plane. There should be a method of being able to claim those credits or plane back if their bugs cause the crash. If ever fixed I will start flying them again.

might take a page from your book and stop using my 737 for passive income. I’ll keep it, though, in case inspection fees and repairs become more affordable someday. Then I can use it again. It’s not worth selling since I’d only get £50 million for it, which is funny because I just spent £40 million on repairs fml

Yeah, Mine (737) is on OFF fully repaired and waiting for a day which I hope will come. I know the maintenance on the smaller planes is a pain because of the shear volume you have to have - but oh well rather that than losing credits in the million’s and rep.

Here’s a thought, what are we grinding for exactly? Just so we can fly a heavy that we “own”. And then what? The career mode needs to be padded out a lot to continue to find purpose in credit grinding!

Hearing reports there might be a bug in the simple maintain schedule where it replaces more than it should/needs too

So next time I get the 40mio repair bill I will drill down into the parts and see if I can save money.

Now that you mention it, a week ago I purchased a brand new PC24. I did a few flights and, out of curiosity, clicked on the engine to see how much it would cost to repair it. I was surprised to see it was only like 25K because it was charging me for what I had actually used, not a flat rate like it is now. However, I used another plane because I couldn’t find a mission with the PC24. When I went back to use it again, it was back to a flat rate. So, it could be a bug for sure.
