I will give X-Plane a try as I have all this expensive gear, purposely bought for MS 2020.
Coming back to flight sims after 25+ years.

You must agree though, to buy expensive software, load it and have these issues, is just not cricket.
Has anyone actually got this thing up and running ? They must all be computer/software engineers.
Here I am, left with a useless box of 10 DVD’s and nobody gives a s**t.

Some things that worked for me:
- Disable any performance mgmt software or tweaking software, use a wired mouse and keyboard if possible
2 Uninstall xbox and gaming services, reboot
3 Reinstall - Sign in to MS Store, validate you are logged in
- Install as usual, install into a folder off the root e.g. D:\FS
Also , use a wired network connection until your system has been fully updated.
Yes, I tried all that. I even turned to my fairy godmother and consulted my crystal ball. No joy.
I suppose when you grow as big as MS, you can afford to ■■■■ off your paying customers.
This software (app) ? is garbage. Doesn’t work. I want a refund.

Downloaded X-Plane 11 Demo. Working. took about 1 hour. I’m into a week of stuffing around with MSFS 2020 and still can’t get it to run. This is simply BS.
MSFS 2020 knocks the pants off X-Plane though. (if you can get it to run). What a bloody shame.
Been there and felt that. I did get a refund the first time around. I did persevere, however… when it works, its worth it… even though the physics need a lot of work.
I also had issues with it running on my laptop and other systems. It did work though I turned off any settings that would reference a local install (like Scenery Cache location, Page File settings etc.)
I was able to run the same game from 2 machines from V1 (midnight of launch) so it does work.
Nuke the machine and start over if that is what it will take.
Sign up for Game Pass and install via that route. Last option… maybe they can convert you over.
