Automatic Community folder rename when updating

Well, you’re right. But on the bug pages Asobo asks us “did you remove/empty the Community folder before updating?” or something to that meaning. And after having had trouble in form of performance issues several times after updating one is inclined to remove the Community folder to avoid hassle. So - to simplify things…?

That is correct. The bug report asks:

Have you disabled/removed all your mods and addons? If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue.

As many “bugs” are found to be the result of incompatibility of an addon with the game.

There is also this ZenDesk article that provides a recommended update procedure:

I still think updating should be made automatically when it comes to Community, when there is a simple solution at hand. Should a comprehensive game include filesearching and troubles with authority over libraries and different levels of compression?

There is no warning when an update is on the way, therefore it is impossible to rename/move (if there are no “isn’t allowed”-restrictions) in advance and avoid renaming and restarting. After all it takes over 5 minutes to the the game loaded avery time.

FYI, notices of of Sim updates, World & City updates, updates to aircraft, etc. are posted in News & Announcements. For example:

Most players aren’t on the forums and will never see these directions. If it’s not part of the game UI during the update process on screen, you can safely assume 99% of players have never done it.

To me, those notices should be standard on all updates. :+1:
