Before (if) I Buy a VR Device - Some Basic Dumb Questions

Thanks to everyone for the insights and discussion. I now think I would very much enjoy VR. I like the ideas of using it for take off, landing, and many low, VFR, control-intensive flights and switching to the laptop screen when on longer-haul autopilot sections. Plus, that reduces the amount of heat buildup on my head.

Without detailing reasons, I avoid anything that requires Facebook or Google accounts, registrations, and use so it will limit the products I can use.

Hey,

I bought the HP reverb G2 and loved it BUT flight simulator is certainly not ready for VR, thus returning the VR headset.
The graphics on a normal monitor outweigh VR graphics to a level VR cannot compete with.
Unless you’re running a 3090 and the best CPU, performance is sluggish and you’ll need medium settings throughout just to enjoy flying without stutters.
FS2020 is amazing and so is VR, but it needs some TLC before I commit to FS2020 VR again.

To each their own, I guess. I have a i710700 and a 2080 gpu and a Reverb G2 and enjoy VR immensely. I never play any other way. Smooth frame rates and only occasional minor stuttering on mostly high settings.
Could it be better? Of course, and I await the day. But meanwhile I’m enjoying the h*** out of this sim.
