They haven’t added that yet…
Hi thanks for the reply KnightofNi312. I do use Addons Linker … have done for a few years now. However my question related to being able to check that (whether Addons Linker is used or not) the BeyondATC path to the new location of the Community Folder (which I moved to where I have set up msfs 2024 (on my N drive rather than on my C drive, which despite asking for MSFS 2024 to be install in my N drive there are still some quirks with Microsoft setup that still placed my Community Folder in the default C drive). The new location of the Community Folder is certainly recognised by the sim since I have noted that (using Addons Linker from a storage drive to the new Community Folder location) addons show up in the sim library. However I’m not sure how to check that the path from BeyondATC points to the new location of my Community folder.
It could be that was the difference-maker, I was coming from out West as well but from SFO, my STAR led me directly to 29. BATC does have a feature where you can request a different approach, does it listen to your input most of the time or just says “unable”? I haven’t tried using that yet since BATC is very accurate.
I do have occasionally that my SimBrief plan says to cruise at 350, which BATC agrees with, but when requesting a step climb to 370 it says “unable as your flight is to the west and 370 is an odd number” even though the real-world flight sometimes flies 350, then 360, then 380. BATC will always give me either even altitudes or odd altitudes, but never both. Is this a feature or bug?
Should do if a shortcut link is in the default community folder, see below for what I mean:
Sorry for the horrendous quality. But hopefully it makes sense, so my FSLTL models are in another folder that is “cross-linked” (for want of a better phrase) to 2024 and 2020 to save space. The above shortcut is in my default 2024 community folder.
I have 2024 installed on K drive (I am the SSD collector), but as you say, you’ll have a voodoo folder installed on C drive. From what I understand, the sim has no files stored on C drive if it is installed elsewhere, it’s like a symbolic folder of some sort. Someone on a bigger gaming chair could explain better. All I can say is that BATC has no issues finding the models.
Am I a bad person because I’m really looking forward to seeing what the BATC team do for VFR implementation?
I know it is aways out, but I’m still very curious about what they will come up with. I’m looking forward to seeing some small GA aircraft activity in the skies, and to experience some pattern traffic at small airports.
I haven’t surfed their Discord, but have they hinted at all about how they intend to make VFR work?
You and me both, I haven’t flown proper VFR since the early days of 2020 when GA would populate smaller fields. Nothing mentioned specifically, but I understand the LLM is the first step to making VFR function correctly.
In my case I tried at several stages to request a different runway. Ahead of tod, it said “unable as you haven’t started descent” so I start descent and ask and it says “unable” several times at different stages.
It wouldn’t let me change “approach” either, and there was no option to change the star, so 17L it was or cose batc, I should have done the latter, but stupidly did the former complete with the consequences.
I like to sit and watch the aircraft here at KPRB just flying the pattern repeatedly. I grab my portable VHF transceiver and listen to their chatter on the CTAF.
I really, really, really want that in the sim for these regional airports I frequent nearly all the time. I want to have to negotiate my position and “work” with other aircraft in the pattern.
That would be so cool!
It’s not doing pattern work, but some GA stuff is already in BATC’s en route traffic. Last weekend I flew from KBOS to KDCA and while climbing south over Rhode Island, I had the BATC Traffic map open and started hovering over some of the traffic around central Connecticut and Long Island - I saw several C172s and a PA28. Of course, these were “outer ring” aircraft - e.g., movements being controlled by BATC but not close enough to inject 3D models in the airspace around my plane. However, had I been flying to Hartford, or someplace, they should have rendered in. Presumably.
Brilliant … the short cut in the default Community Folder to the (in my case) link in my re-located Community folder in my N drive to my P drive (via Addons Linker) appears to have worked. Thank you . It would be so much more straight forward if Microsoft had a file structure that was more user friendly. I’ve also emailed BeyondATC Help asking if there is any way to change the path in their app. to the actual Community Folder in use. As you can see I have a fetish for drives too lol.
Is anyone seeing a double requests. It’s been happening for a while for me, and I’m only sending one mouse click to send the request. Most frequently seen on initial IFR clearance, but I’ve had some while calling for descent too.
Aaaand yessss. The LLM is live on experimental!!!
Major Update 1.6.1.Experimental
LLM - Added Large Language Model layer to BATC.
LLM - Added interaction keyboard UI for open-ended requests to the system.```

Analytics - If you feel comfortable sharing completely anonymous data analytics with us, it will help us improve this system in a big way. You will be prompted to opt in on starting the new version. If you encounter a bug with this system and do not have analytics turned on, it will make it challenging for us to help fix it. Please consider enabling this feature if you would like to help us. What information we capture will be provided on the prompt. (You can opt in or out at any time in Options > Data Analytics)
Known/potential issues:
- This is our first iteration of this featureset. Expect bugs!
- The included featureset was created with as broad a range as possible, derived via feedback in closed and internal testing. The featureset provided should be quite extensive. However, it is impossible for us to predict all the ways users will want to use this feature. As such, we will be monitoring feedback to improve the system and add new features.
- Sometimes it is possible a text readback will not match the audio output. We are working to resolve these issues, but luckily they should be rare.
- It is possible the system will hallucinate instructions. These should be incredibly rare, but still possible. If you have analytics turned on, this will help us capture these moments. Please report them as bugs if you come across this.
First LLM update
Hotfix 1.6.2.Experimental
LLM - Fixed crash if callsign didn’t include a number.
LLM - Fixed issue where request can hang indefinitely.
LLM - Adjust prompts for smoother communication via issues found with user reports.
LLM - Further fixes based on user feedback.```
All based upon users sending their player logs. That’s how important this is
Won’t the analytics provide this info though? Hopefully they bring that option to the EA version (is it there already?), it’ll be a lot easier than navigating the deep waters of Discord.
I am not aware that BATC has ‘the analytics’? Maybe I am mistaken. Do you mean ‘the telemetry’ that Asobo gets from MSFS?
Apparently Discord had this name. It’s just a forum quite exactly like this one
The analytics are specific to the LLM part, but there can be other issues that would still require your log file. Both are important and helpful in different ways
I think having a “send logfile” button in the BATC app would be a good idea, maybe with a small text window to describe the issue. I don’t think that posting randomly on discord is a great method of logging issues.
What you’re not considering is how many reports are actually read by members, community mentors, and mods. These people play a big role in addressing issues that aren’t necessarily bugs. By hiding all this information behind a bug reporting system, it could actually increase support time and overall management overhead.
The system we have in place on Discord works well. While we don’t respond to everything, I can assure you the reports are read and taken into account. From our side, it’s very manageable as it stands
Thanks for being on this forum as well, Dialex!
Is it common IRL that ATC will clear you to climb higher than maximum FL restriction on SID? It happens almost every time with BATC. They tell me to take off and climb via SID, after take off they clear me to climb to FL180 when I still have two restrictions in front of me.
