I’ve always been on the ‘all premium voices’ for BATC and I update my credits like every… 7 weeks I think. I fly about 6 to 8 hours a week generally, mostly regional in busy sectors. To me its well worth it as I love the regional accents. I also care much for the autoreply function as I leave the copilot to deal with the radio while I focus on flying. (I could seriously need more pilot-voices though, that would be lovely).
I don’t know others peoples income but if you can afford a ~15 euro a month for full premium, try it out and see if it adds to your experience.
On the top of my wishlist now would be radio vectoring for weather (flying in Brazil currently with lot of CBs, how awesome would it be if it could read the weather radar which is pretty basic in-sim anyway, and steer around any red areas for vectoring). Would still love historical weather, so receiving METAR/weather data from the sim instead of online and well in time I’d love some cabin/crew handling, but I get how that is further down the line.
Minor Update 1.6.44.Experimental
Frequencies - fix a bug that prevented center frequencies being correctly assigned if already in use by traffic - leading to player seeing ‘Frequency doesn’t exist’
Runway allocation - fix a typo that could lead to incorrect runway allocations from METARs in low crosswind scenarios
Parking - continue to tweak and rework traffic parking logic based on user feedback
Parking - introduce a new airport ops configuration to force parking at terminal rather than remote ramps at airports where FR24 transponder data is lost as they leave the runway. Initially this is set at LGAV and ZSPD for feedback. Note in these scenarios parking allocations are random and airline gate ops can’t be followed.
TCAS - A350 from iniBuilds, TCAS now properly shows callsigns
Based on past experienced, if these tweaks in the Experimental version don’t introduce any major bugs or regressions, they will probably be rolled out to the standard version in a few days.
You’re interested in VR, so these comments address BATC running with the VR toolbar app that BATC provides:
The toolbar app you download, separate from BATC. It is designed specifically for VR. I use it without VR but it is still good as it takes up less screen that the full BATC window. It takes up quite a small amount of space.
So you can load a flight, go to the MSFS toolbar, click the BATC icon and you’re in.
To “reset” BATC for a new flight, you push the “Escape” key, then run through the app as usual before a new flight, so very simple.
I don’t actually fly in VR, so I cannot answer how it works specifically in VR, other than you click the toolbar icon. I can’t imagine it being much different than what I see, however. From what I’ve read, it is quite good in VR.
I’m not quite clear as to your first question, but BATC requires a Simbrief flight plan (you can use the free tier, though the paid Navigraph gives you up-to-date AIRAC). You can launch BATC mid flight: it will ask you what phase of flight you’re in (i.e climb, cruise, descent) and act accordingly. As long as you’re somewhere on your Simbrief flight plan, it works pretty well.
Let me know if that doesn’t answer your specific question.
Ok, really don’t understand. You mean binding a key to a specific command triggering something in BATC? Doing what?<<
You need to assign a button on you joystick to ‘push to talk’ so you can communicate with BATC. I’ve been using BATC in VR for that last few weeks and it works very well. However, either BATC was recently updated or 2020 was and now the frame rates are taking a big hit, so I stopped using it.
Really? Previously I had the barking dog sounds until I ran the script that BATC posted on their Discord that stripped out certain sounds from the FSLTL base models package. However, I updated the models when FSLTL pushed the update and the sound issue did not recur.
However, I don’t use any Asobo generic models - the only models I have active in BATC are those from FSLTL and FS Traffic, and I fly with all other sim aircraft traffic disabled.
Yeah, I did the same, but didn’t run the barking dog stripper after updating to 1.5, since it was meant to be fixed.
I’m using the Experimental version, which has a setting to use Asobo GA models for GA aircraft, so I’ve got that enabled. I’m thinking that is probably the issue since there are no airliners at this municipal airport and a few GA airplanes. That has to be it.
Very often while I am transmitting I am getting a beep in my headphones as if I was cutting someone off, and my transmission doesn’t go through. However, there is no other traffic and no-one else is transmitting.
Flying into LAX, got cleared from FL380 to 1100’ while I was still 80 miles out. The ILS approach only went down to 2,200 at the FAF. No vectors ever provided and despite having selected the ILS approach, when was 10 miles out, was told I was on the visual approach and advise when field is in site. Also finding it next to impossible to change arrival runways, regardless of what stage of flight I am in.
Flew into LAX at 6PM (simulator time), despite having all AI traffic sliders set to 9, only saw a single aircraft taxying the entire time I was on the ground.
To me, it feels like BATC is regressing since the last “update”. I’m using the standard version, not the experimental. May be time to explore other options.
