Current Bing maps looks much better in Sweden than in the game, I have high hope they will be updated with the Nordic Update.
We normally expect sim map data to be updated instantaneously as the Bing Maps get updated, however itâs apparently not the case. Thatâs lame.
We cannot be dependent on and keep waiting for the World Updates yo get the updated imagery as it just seems too lazy and retardant as compared to the speed at which a map database as Bing gets updated.
The technology we have under our wings is truly ground breaking. No-one seems to appreciate the fact that 98% of the world does not have the 3D photogrammetry completed and so the representation we have has to be generated from 2D satellite data. Easy to update a 2D map. Not so easy to generate a 3D world from it.
Actually there also still exist areas where this isnât complete and you can use them to simulate how great parts of the world would look unprocessed
Kinshasa Congo
You can also use Bing Map viewer with satellite imagery enabled to preview areas and you will see many parts of the world would look like that. Alaska, Canada, Russia, and large parts of the rest of the world that are either too unpopulated*, to elevated or almost never have good weather.
*deserts on the other hand usually look great, because of the lack of clouds and abundant sunshine they are the perfect areas for photography.
You have answered a question on why parts of Australia and NZ look so bad.
What parts of NZ ? I havenât found any yet in the north island
the biggest let down (which is one of the very few for NZ which is good) would be Possibly one of the more beautiful in NZ regarding an approach. Tauranga/The mount. Huge swaves of the mount and the golden beaches are just generic textures⊠big chunks of my home town Rotorua has generic textures (luckily my childhood house and the downtown is fantastic.) I believe some of the west coast beaches are lacking north of Auckland and itâs just random patches throughout NZ
