Britten Norman Trislander (Study Level) AVAILABLE NOW

Decided to take the Tri up in the mountains. It is really amazing to think what we are having the ability to fly in and around.

I just flew this Placerville (KPVF) to Lake Tahoe (KTVL) just to see the new Asobo Tahoe airport scenery. Boy
a lot of fun getting over the mountains in the Trislander
in between peaks and stall warning sounding
leaning mixture was a challenge. Try it!

Oh haha thanks.

Nah, it was nap time in the back

Thanks for the tip. Just did it, she handled it like a champ. But then again i have been flying her in PNG as well over much higher terrain. Leaning is not hard just watch the EGT gauge and keep just rich of peak and she will climb happy at like 1000ft/m and keep 100kts IAS. That airport looked really nice btw!

Hmm
 I’m getting outer/middle marker alerts
even though I haven’t tuned the ILS for the runway. I’m wailling to bet they’re not linked to the ILS freq or it’s an Asobo issue, but just incase, thought I’d bring it up.

Also noticed the fuel pump audio doesn’t shut off with the battery master off. I can’t tell if i have any pressure for obvious reasons!

They never were linked to the ILS ?
AFAIK The Marker beacons are independent of any tuned radio

I will investigate the Pump sound but If your batteries are off why would you need fuel pressure anyway ?

It was more that I couldn’t check if there was pressure than needing pressure - was trying to be comprehensive.

Yes, it seems ILS markers are totally independent & fixed freq, which makes much more sense now I’m less surprised & thought about it for a bit.

You will indeed get those regardless of whether you’ve got the ILS tuned or not.

They’re marker beacons

If any of you are on VATSIM, there’s an event on this evening which would totally suit the Trislander.

Unfortunately I can’t post links but google “VATSIM events Seaside Dash”!

Hope to see/hear some of you this evening! :sunglasses:

Hey folks! If you follow the Islander stuff too, this might look familiar.

If you’ve got a Honeycomb Bravo and didn’t know, there are folks out there making aircraft / type specific levers!

One of the people I buy stuff from is a guy named Doug. His shop on Etsy is “iDigStuff”. I love his replacement levers because the center sections are aluminum and not 3D printed box sections. (I own several sets of his stuff - JU-52, DC-6, Islander, and a C208 torque lever. I think it’s all good quality stuff. (I’m not being paid for this, I buy everything like everyone else!)

So this is what the Islander levers look like. Stand is also from Etsy, shop name is “FlightSimFactory”. Also good stuff!

then today, Doug messaged me this:

I only had to bother him for months to get him going. Throttle #2 is a narrow little thing compared to #1 and #3! He said he’s got to do some testing, print a test set, correct that, and then he can sell!

I’m excited. I will definitely be ordering a set!

I wonder if he can do this as an addon to the Islander set? the extra prop lever is obvious, but whether the throttle will fit without bending the existing ones more I don’t know. I’d definitely be interested if it was just an addon.

Also a 146 set if he’s taking requests

As I understand it, it would not work. The Trislander stuff had to be bent and checked against itself to make sure none of the levers were fouling. Maybe @iDigStuff can chime in, but I think it would be difficult to make that center lever for the Trislander without having the other two levers present. @iDigStuff’s
stuff is all artisan and hand-crafted.

Not sure if this was mentioned. I emailed Blackbox about it shortly after release but never received a response:

On the short-nose Trislander with the registration-on-tail option (such as the Aloha Airlines repaint, for example), the red counterweight forward of the elevator on the right side of the tail has a texture bleed through issue. Quite simply, the texture flickers on and off, and is quite distracting. This issue is NOT present on the registration-on-fuselage version of the short nose, nor is it present on any of the long-nose models.

Can anyone else replicate?

Hmm. I honestly haven’t noticed that, but I don’t fly (what I’m guessing is external). I am going to switch computers from my work rig here in just a bit and I’ll check it out.

Yep, I see it - looks like there’s a duplicate counterweight model & they’re fighting.
