Has this been confirm by the developers, and if so is a fix imminent? TIA
From my testing, there are multiple issues that combine into the engine failing:
1: The green arc and redline is wrong. Between FS2020 and FS2024 the RPM gauge texture was changed from the correct one with redline at 2550 to one from a C172 with redline at 2700. This means that you can fly in the green arc and be in RPM overspeed range.
2: The prop does not provide enough resistance for the engine and it is very happy to overspeed by a couple of hundred rpm.
3: The plane significantly underperforms compared to POH numbers. Cruise performance is around 20% too low in regards to KIAS at RPM at altitude. This leads to users overspeeding the engine to get a reasonable cruise speed.
The C152 is actually correctly taking damage above the max rpm value. Max rated rpm is configured to 2550. Damage timer starts counting in the 2600-2650 range.
Thank you for your testing I just noticed the RPM gauge was wrong thanks to your post. Note it makes sense why the engine is failing even though I’m safely in the green zone. I also agree it underperforms.
Same issue for me. Roughly every other flight. It happens in bush trips for me. I haven’t really flown the 152 outside that so don’t know if it happens in free flight.
I guess the fact that this is so old shows Asobo really isn’t paying attn to bugs. Many months later and here we are…
