Cera Sim Mi17

no, just put in in community folder, it’s a standalone mod, never put it in the aircraft folder! Now you need to reinstall the original helicopter to restore the helicopter

It was standalone!
I tried re-installing it right away, and it’s fun. I’m enjoying Mi17 the most I’ve ever had.
thank you.

I finally tested the modification AFCS with a non-centering Gladiator NXT joystick.
No code changes required!
The only thing you have to do is ignore the force trim button and simply fly woth the joystick. When pitch / roll autopilot is set to 0 / 0, it maintains the attitude resulting from stick position.
See attached video. Diamond is my stick position, I’m not moving it once I stabilize 5 degrees nose down, cross is cyclic trim that the system automatically adjusts as I speed up, keeping 5 degrees nose down

Hi ! no mod for V 2.4.9 ? Your mod seems to be very appreciated but unfortunately I do not have version 1.05 to try it… thank you by the way

Yeah, things are in a bit of a limbo right now. I was hoping to integrate AFCS as well as flight model. Since AFCS is a rare thing, I was negotiating commercial agreement with Cera, but so far that didn’t work out. They might be waiting for Asobo AFCS, that will likely disappoint but that’s just my speculation at this point.

Since 1.0.5 is effectively obsolete, I need to decide if I update for 2.4.9 as freeware or keep holding out for Cera to change their minds. It’s a dilemma. I’m sorry that impacts end users. We’ll try to get out of this somehow

UPDATE (for 1.0.5)
We have ALT / collective autopilot
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1cq37esLY19F8YNt-rdS8O2cKqIJaPPr5?usp=sharing

Press the rightmost button on autopilot control panel in level cruise to engage automatic collective control maintaining current altitude, regardless of nose pitch adjustments

Do we have any improvement mod for 2.4.9?

Not yet. I was holding off until 2024, I’m actually still holding until it becomes a little more stable.
I want to combine improvement mod for updated hip with FS24 port

UPDATE 28.11.24
I started experimenting with upgrading mod for Cera Mi-17 2.5.0 for FS24.

Aircraft works almost without issue. ENG OUT warnings stay ignited. Rest works without issue, including AP-34B, except force trim.

FS24 changed something in input event handling, we have trouble with bindings to native controls such as force trim or roll/pitch attitude adjustments. Everything that’s on the virtual cockpit autopilot panel works

If you have a non-centering joystick like VKB gladiator or Puma PFT it’s mostly flyable.

What’s up ? Anything new?

No changes, updates, or comms from the team since the latest release version 2.5 (maybe 2.5.1 can’t remember precisely). I do see it was released to poor reviews on the marketplace as well.
Generally some problems remain - no autopilot, reversed switches (they animate and work properly systems-wise, but the tooltip arrow shows that you’ll switch it up but it’ll actually switch down, for example), and some other concerns mentioned more recently in this thread regarding different opinions on flight dynamics, ground handling, etc.
If you are ok without an autopilot and are aware of some idiosyncrasies it’s still an enjoyable helicopter and still one of the most complex we have in the sim, but you must be aware of its limitations.

I’m using this helicopter from time to time and I don’t have much complains about it.
Of course I understand it has issues, and the fact is that I haven’t even tried to use the autopilot yet (as it’s one of its major flaws, if my understanding is correct?), but the atmosphere I get from this bird is second to none. Starting it in cold mornings/evenings after setting up the cockpit lights is an experience in VR that I truly enjoy.

There are only two or three things that I’m not so happy with:
1- the flight model: that helicopter feels like its main rotor is under the main frame instead of being above it. It doesn’t feel like it’s suspended to the rotor. Instead, it feels like its in balance over it, like a spinning top that is constantly ready to fall on one side or the other… Very weird.

2- the startup: it seems to me the main rotor start spinning way too fast upon engine startup. I’ll have to check a few more recent videos of the real thing but I’m pretty sure the main rotor shouldn’t reach (or “look like it reached”) its max rotating speed in just a few seconds…

3- the canopy windows: Have the rain and ice effects been implemented? I think I’m not seeing them, but I’m not too sure about that one. I may simply need to test more.

Concerning the ground behavior, it’s not behaving that bad on my side. I can taxi it without too much problems.

When I have MTOW, the anti-torque is not enough to stop the spin during takeoff. Anyone experiences this?

Are you doing a rolling take-off at MTOW? Usually with these helos (the Mi-24 is another good example), you have to roll down the runway a bit before increasing collective.

Has the autopilot mod been updated for the latest version of the heli?

Dear cerasim developers , if you read this message , please update the Mi-17 helicopter for MSFS 2024 , thank you in advance.

Well, make it up to some sort of standard in 2020 first.
This is one of my purchases i regret the most.
