Nobody is trying to prevent it from happening. The poster above is making the point that it’s quite easy to just declare that it “needs” to happen but there are practical considerations anybody who was going to undertake such a project would have to make.
Everybody has their favorite plane they want in the sim. It’s not a moral imperative any of them actually get made.
Like I said, and people are being needlessly offended by, it needs ot happen. Not because I said it, because it’s a national icon. This isn’t about me, this is about Canada, Canada’s aviation, and a corrupted Canadian icon. It’s historical.
Moderate me all you want, ban me. It still won’t get your point across that yes it needs someone to make it, etc. People can’t grasp the actual value of the Avro Arrow.
Again, don’t get offended by what I post, look at the worth and historical value of the Avro Arrow.
It is. It was going to be the Canada LL but they decided to put it in the 40th Anniversary update instead. So it looks like there probably isn’t going to be a separate LL release with the Canada update, or rather there might be a plane but it won’t be something specific to Canada.
Myself and a Team are working to bring the CF-105 to life in DCS instead of MSFS but once the project is complete we may offer the model up for someone to utilize for development.
Project has recently started (6 months ago) and we are moving along quite well.
This is SUCH good news. Can’t wait for the Arrow to fly again - if only in my computer. Hopefully it will be close to a study level aircraft. Cant wait to see it on the ramp in CYXE and CYCW. Any hope of having the CF-18 livery with it to show what it might have looked like today?
The plan is for it to be a study level, weapons capable aircraft (as close as we can get to Standard model quality without getting access with being a 3rd Party Developer).
Mind you this will only be in Digital Combat Simulator not Microsoft Flight Sim.
Once the Mk2+ Arrow is complete (we are looking to simulate it as if the Arrow came into full service) we will be looking into using another model we acquired which is a fictional 4+ Gen version of the Avro Arrow. Solely for entertainment value and where we get to have some fun estimating its performance that could have been.
Unfortunately we wont be making a Cold Lake map as to do so in DCS is a gargantuan undertaking and the Arrow can be used in already existing terrains as they are created and released.
Also at this point we don’t have any plans ourselves to take the aircraft into Microsoft Flight Simulator as we don’t see a value there with Microsoft taking 40% of the price of a module and no guarantee of sales.
Sorry for the disappointment regarding the creation of terrain and such. Once we have a more complete version to being to showcase we will be Sharing our development Discord/Community and are looking to begin showcasing it at Virtual DCS Airshows in ~1-1.5 years.
I wish you would reconsider making the CF-105 for MSFS as payware but perhaps not on the marketplace? Honestly, I would easily pay $50+ to see this plane in my MSFS menu.
Yeah I’d love to see an Arrow too. Lots of places to sell other than the marketplace and the overall MSFS market is massive…most devs that have moved over seem to be happy with the results.
If you ever want to visit one in real life a full scale model made by some of the OG engineers. Is near Barrie Ontario just go to google and type in arrow203 https://www.avroarrow203.com/avroe/
Oh, that’s awesome, last I heard it was still just sitting at Pearson, glad someone finally put it back on display, I’ll have to check it out next time I pass by Barrie.
I am taking a trip to see it in April. I plan on taking as many photos as I can. I have some knowledge in 3D design. Perhaps I will start working on an Arrow 203 for MSFS. It won’t be rushed so people may need to wait for awhile.
