Same here, they’ve been completely silent regarding weather-related issues. They’d much rather add another 60 planes, but fix the weather? Pah!
Please Asobo, you need to investigate this bug.
These look nothing like clouds.
The clouds structures as soon as there is distance look nothing like the shapes of clouds.
It did not look anywhere near as bad as this in 2020.
This cannot be deliberate.
When you zoom in on clouds in the distance in MSFS 2020, they still look like clouds.
This regression is terrible.
Please we need to hear from Asobo on it.
Is a good suggestion, but unfortunately I don’t think this is a bug, just like the reduced general weather resolution !
MS/Asobo should finally allow third party tools (Active Sky f.e.) to set the weather per station - I think then we would have better results again !
But without wanting to be harsh of course - maybe that’s exactly the reason !
Anyway, you should´t stop reporting !
Anything from the devs yet?
It is clear to see the big regression.
Sometimes I wonder if “Regression” is the only way to keep the stutters away.
I wonder if having to support 2 distinctly different platforms, Xbox and PC, was a mistake. I guess the $$ always wins over technical considerations.
Exactly, we’re just numbers to them. And unpaid beta-testers too.
Was vainly hoping this issues might have been addressed in SU3b, but as expected sadly not.
I still can’t believe that such a regression to the clouds can have been done on purpose.
And again, clouds in the distance look absolutely terrible and don’t blend with the atmosphere, they’re just stuck in as so obvious really low quality blobs.
Please fix this huge regression from 2020.
This issue could be mitigated by reducing the density of the clouds based on distance to the aircraft.
It would make these horrible clouds blend in more and much less visually obnoxious.
Like these in the distance, if they didn’t stick out so much, it would be much less noticeable how awful they look.
Either way.
You can see the difference in quality with distance at the same zoom level.
Closer, looks fine without zooming, looks fine when zoomed in.
Further away, looks awful without zooming, looks awful when zoomed in.
Notice how at the same location in 2020
The clouds look good when zoomed out
And then when you zoom in, they still look realistic. Not this massive low resolution rubbish. This is party because there is no massive LOD drop off. And also because they blend into the atmosphere much much better.
It looks like 100x more realistic to me.
It is such a massive regression.
I can’t believe that nothing has been acknowledged about this.
The whole scene just looks way more ‘alive’ and realistic.
Many thanks for making this feedback logged.
It really is a huge regression from 2020, and therefore has to be a bug as there is no way the developers would have made such a step backwards on purpose, the way the clouds look so bad in the distance, and also the way all clouds, from the middle distance onwards especially, do not blend with the atmosphere at all and just look like they are stuck in and not part of the atmosphere. It makes 2024 look very cartoony in this regard compared to 2020.
Hopefully it won’t be too long to wait for a fix for this big regression, but I appreciate there are lots of other things to work on.
You can see clearly here the huge regression.
The closer clouds look fine and are part of the atmosphere and look like clouds.
The ones in the distance just like like they are superimposed and not part of the atmosphere and also have very low detail. Just look like blobs and stick out like a sore thumb as we say in English.
This kind of thing was not there in 2020, and 2024 is a huge step backwards in this regard.
