A little update after all the help over the past 24hrs…
Got set up to go forth and conquer after all the suggestions and help earlier.
First flight attempt I encountered a glitch…went through the checklist a little swifter than before…and successfully got to the stage where I was about to go for pushback…and noticed all the dials and switches were on in the AutoPilot section…and the Heading, Speed and Altitude numbers were all lit 8888 - ie all lights on. Nothing rectified it, no response from controls, so abandon the flight.
I recalled advice about setting the Flight Model to Modern (which I already was) and Assists to be set to Hard or True to Life. One setting I changed to Hard - pretty sure it was in the Aircraft Systems part.
Second attempt went much better - only on this occasion I admit to sticking to the switches and buttons I could actually do myself. All times keeping an eye on the autopilot to see if it glitched out again - which it didn’t.
Very smooth take off and flight generally - using the Climb detent made a real difference so thank you for that advice.
Things still to check off:
- No altitude info in the NAV mode on the MFD as seen in YodaVonBeck75’s video
- Folk are referring to entering V speeds - this may be related to above issue - but I’m not entering any such data as yet. I did enter my ILS setting as seen in the video - previously I’d been using the NAV button in the radio panel, pressing the ILS button and tuning in the frequency. So much better this time - and I didn’t get the glitch in the stock A320 whereby after entering the ILS frequency ‘my way’, I’d get a warning stating my squawk code was no longer responding - sure it wasn’t as it had reset itself to 7000 every time… Anyway, any pointers as to how to enter that data and what data to put in would be helpful - I’ll be searching as well of course!
- The Altitude ‘bumping’ I experienced did not replicate itself with the throttle in the Climb detent. Much better.
Thank you again for all the help and encouragement.
