Well had to start the game and fly a bit with the 500 before updating it to see if I could notice any difference, and this leaning is just a part of the torque problem all asobo FM choppers has in different ways, it wants to go up and to the right the more throttle it has so you need to compensate.
So asobo need to fix choppers in this game asap, but would be good with a general cowan fix until that happends.
The 222 got this behaviour after its first update, but cant remember if it was a cowan update or a general asobo update… but it was much better without it.
Well then I updated the 500 and tried to fly it again, and first thing is that now it seems that the complainers has once again made something working gotten broken just because some detail they get in there head must be fixed, well now the chopper has got no doors as standard it seems!
And flying it dont work anymore!
Gives it collective and ut gets of the ground and then it basically shuts of and falls to the ground… restarted, same thing again.
Just restarted the game, lets see if that fixes it.
If not then please stop asking for updates on the only working choppers in the game!
Lets let them lean a bit but with doors and be flyable!
No doors, falling out of the sky. This is something to do with you and your mods or install. I can fly the bird just fine. Doors and all. Almost sounds like the throttle on the collective isn’t revved up all the way, maybe?
Restarted and still no door, the engine rpm dirs when pulling up the throttle, webt up again when pulling diwn the collective, slowly rising, and I pull the collective up when the rpm is high again and the chopper goes nuts and turns over.
Great!
I am on xbox cloud gaming, in the middle of the sahara desert with nothing installed that can mess it up.
Thanks people!
Cant wait for the other cowans to get this update.
Gonna go fly my mscenery choppers now, at least I know they wont get uodates the ”fixes” them…
I’m diggin the new update so far. Stayed up way too late last night rippin’ and tearin’. Really appreciate the glass panels with the flip of switch. How cool is that?! I know this will divide the community but I absolutely love the smudges and marks on the glass at certain lighting angles. It feels “lived in” and real. As in real life I’m always wishing the panels could be brighter! I hope that the panel brightness gets its own setting in the menu and uncoupled from the gauge and cockpit dimmer. The panels need some more functionality, like the ability to change the user presets around the CDI. Would be nice to have wind direction and Change OAT to °F. Also missing the radar altimeter with the glass panel, baro minimums won’t ring a tone when they cross. Really excited for the A-Star/Squirrel to get the same treatment.
Glad to see a few vibrations thrown in the animation with the ignition key and the cyclic bobbing around. At first I thought my stick was on the Fritz! Love that I can take the rear doors off now without the utility bench. Love that the weight and balance settings state save in sim now. But in the main menu they still show default weight and balance numbers. Load into the sim and it’s the saved settings from flying earlier.
As far as the flight model update goes, yes, it still has left skid low tendencies. This isn’t usually an issue once you get into cruise and are all trimmed out, and the wind is perfect, and the collective isn’t too high or too low… but it shouldn’t take all of those variables lining up to fly level, so I understand the gripes on that front. But I believe that is the dynamic MSFS has cooked into their helicopter codes. Cowan has stated before that the code for heli’s doesn’t like the Slip ball indicator. As this is still present and is really shown when looking at the slip indicator on the Garmin. And the flight looks ridiculous when you do “line it up.”
The controls do feel more stiff in faster cruise flight, as it should be. Before I feel like the control in cruise was too light and a bit everywhere all at once. The trim feels a bit slower to me, but the Hat switch on my HOTAS is starting to go out, could be that. But feels like it takes a bit longer to trim back or forward, whereas a couple of clicks would get me close to where I wanted to be.
Sound bug is back when in proximity to other 500e in multiplayer. Sounds like a high pitched vacuum.
The new POV views are alright… the left pov smacks your head into the side of the door/airframe. So adjustments to be made to get used to some of these new views.
@BragRaindrop933 I haven’t seen this behavior. Maybe check for an addon? I’ve cold started and started hot on runways, switched panels during flights, full shutdowns and restarts. I can’t replicate the KIAS indicator getting stuck.
Reinstalled the chopper hoping that would solve it, but no.
Started pushing all kinds of buttons and the ”beep engine” on the collective kickstarted it all and bom of we when tumbling through the sky until I got the engine down.
But still no doors…
Well I am at least flying around in it now, so push the beep button if you cant get airborne!
Clearly feels different, better? Maybe yes. Gonna fly some more.
But it said something was changed in throttle/governour so I guess on xbox at least it very obvious… remember… beep button!
Edit: and now I got the doors back! Thank God! It was just looking at the ”strap” by the door and pushing a, and similar with the backdoors.
I have been playing around with the doors and all the other things in the past and this new updates that saves settings must have saved my old stuff that now affects the chopper inneays they didnt before.
Now when restarting the doors are still there and crazy enough the collective behaves like normal again! No need to push beep button!
So has to have been some old saved setting that messed up the new things.
But I uninstalled it and installed it again and it was still broken before?!
Well, hopefully someone has the same issue and gets helped by my ranting.
Its very clearly the throttle messing up the pull up/right, have not noticed it before but now with this update its very easy finding the right throttle input just enough for it to be completely stable and not pull up or down.
I’ve also noticed some weird behaviors with the new GDU370 (“G3X”) and flight planning. The Course indicator will get stuck at 360° N and won’t lock onto GPS track. BUT if you enter flight plan through the GTN530 the CRS arrow will now acquire the gps once you hit the CDI selector on the 530.
The same issue exists in the H125/as350b3. You can enter a flight plan in the GTN650 but it won’t pick up on the CRS indicator. BUT, again, if you make the flight plan in the GTN530 the avionics will connect and you can acquire the course…
Bit of a bummer to enter your flight plan twice so it “looks” right. Because once you enter the plan in the 530, it doesn’t update to the new GDU370. So you have to enter it again just to preview it on the 370, while the 530 controls the CDI.
And the bug still exists, when you start airborne both the GTN530 and GTN430 are black screens.
Yea the 63 Liveries that come with it just aren’t enough…
You know most devs only give you 8-10 liveries. Over 60 liveries for a $32 heli is a great deal. It comes with two matte black military style, a white/grey coastgaurd style, a grey/blue marine matte camo and 4 Swiss SAR variants. What military variant are you looking for olive drab?
As well he does provide paint kits so you or others could make your own. But being on Xbox we can’t do that. I’m honestly shocked 4Simmers, 2Pilot, Fsoares, haven’t released the same liveries in different packages like they are known to do… probably didn’t think they needed to since Cowan already provided 63 liveries!
Hehe, yeah. It’s not like this is the SWS PC-12 where they basically said “You can have any livery you want, as long as it’s plain white”. Well … there were a couple of others, but still underwhelming.
Most of the liveries are non military. I would recommend more international md500 Defender Camouflage liveries.
Maybe some US Military Units but they use the bigger 530F.
What’s funny about that is the plain white 206b, 222b, 500e are some of my favorite liveries to fly from time to time. I fly the H125 the most, it and the LongRanger are the only Cowan’s that don’t have a “plain white” livery. Haha
I do agree with @holzreaktor it could be nice to see some military specific variants. I’m not too keen on Marketplace sales practices but if a third party Developer does provide paint kits, if you made a set of liveries could you then sell those? What permissions are involved, I don’t know anything about how that all works.
A little upset I cant edit the flight_model cfg file from the marketplace version just to get it to fly straight. Guess ill have to wait for an official fix or a sale and buy the external version. What a bummer.
I’ve flown DCS helicopters I know when trim or torque is or isn’t the issue. But thanks.
I’m referring after trimming it to fly straight the rotorcraft is left skid down.
