I already thought there was a problem with my computer. I have the same problem and have already checked and upgraded my cooling. I don’t have such high temperatures with PMDG aircraft, but with the Fenix A320, inibuilds A320 Neo and A300.
With these aircraft in cruise altitude, the temperatures go quickly on tjmax and then cool down again to go up again. However, I cannot detect a drop in the FPS, only temperature fluctuations.
That is really striking. Support wrote to me a few weeks ago that it might be due to the aircraft (PMDG / FENIX) and FSREALISTIC. However, I don’t have the problems with PMDG/FENIX and FSREALISTIC and traffic over the USA, for example.
I get the same - usually when flying in south GB, France, Germany and austria. (this seems to be the problem area). Dont see issues in Spain or Portugal areas.
no such issues anywhere else in world as far as i can tell
Yes everything is update, yes latest Wu, yes clean PC
Issue still present. I personally think it has to do with the huge amount of (detailed) data in EU need to be processed. The higher you fly, the more km2 needs to be downloaded en processed = higher CPU usage.
I capped my 7800X3D at 85 degrees… try not to look at it that much anymore. Hopefully MSFS2024 will be better.
I’m having the exact same issue and so glad I found this thread. Across all aircraft I get between 20-30fps during cruise across most of Europe. As soon as I go south through Italy it ramps up again to normal fps. I’ve been driving myself crazy trying to fix this! CPU manipulators go through the roof.
Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
NO
Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
FYI, I’ve noticed that issue mainly affects users with AMD CPUs, with one report from an Intel user. I’ve also had a Ryzen 7 8700X3D for a while now but I haven’t experienced this problem. I’m running the latest BIOS with AGESA 1.2.0.2. and MSI MAG X670e Tomahawk WIFI, DDR5 32GB @6200 tweaked.
I’ve just tried a test over Germany at 34,000ft in the IFE Tornado and had the AMD Adrenaline performance overlay visible throughout. Flight conditions set to all live.

Route was ETAD (flightsim.to version) via EDDF (default) and landing at EDDM (default), straight up to 34,000 after takeoff, autopilot engaged and remaining at that altitude until about 20 miles out from EDDM.
No abnormal CPU usage noted either on the ground or at altitude, although my framerate did vary. Beginning FPS at ETAD was 46 and fluctuated between 37-55 as I approached EDDF. Over EDDF this dropped to 27, with the GPU utilisation fluctuating a lot. Once flying south-east to EDDM the FPS started rising to 45-50 and by 60 miles SE it was 60+ with the GPU stabilised at 99%. FPS down to mid 30s on the approach and landing.
