I don’t own this plane, I saw way too many of the military variant when in USN, regardless, the company PMDG puts an “introduction” someplace in the files for this plane and if you read that, your issue must be explained. PMDG tests these extensively. Additionally, you can sign up for their forum and it has a world of information as well. Happy Flying.
Excellent! I’m really glad to hear they had a solution for you.
Yes they were very helpful quick at replying by email almost like a live chat
Interesting. I’ve been having issues with mixture and prop being recognized by my Velocity One quadrant. My throttles work fine though. I’ll give this recommendation a try with mixture and prop!
Waiting for PMDG 737 it would be interesting to hear how the DC6 performs as far as fps on the XBOX. Any stuttering or issues from running a complex plane? On PC it seems for most that the A310 is quite a bit heavier than PMDG 737 which make me hope that on XBOX X the 737 will be also smoother…
Thats an MSFS bug thats been around for years
Yeah I made a new joystick profile just for the dc6 and used simple axis for all the levers which didn’t work
The dc6 runs perfect zero stutter and better than a310 only issue is the atc dropping out a lot with this aircraft but I know that’s an on going issue I have high hopes for the airliners but would be disappointing with atc bugs
Great to hear. Hopefully we will get a smooth 737 soon then!
Don‘t assign the mixture to an axis for the DC6.
It is PMDG’s fault. They could have left the basic selection of liveries in the download but they took them out. They could also have the 4.99 pack permanently on sale as other companies have done but they claim they are scared of upsetting Microsoft by “abusing their infrastructure” or something.
Although I agree, having a couple of liveries in the base pack would be a good solution, if the Microsoft Store allowed some form of freeware, even if it was just freeware liveries for payware products, there wouldn’t be any issue at all.
Yeah this worked! The trick was to start with a completely new and blank profile instead of copying another one and customizing it from there. Having said that, I was able to get everything mapped with throttles and the prop, etc, however i could not map the mixture levers. That’s not a huge deal as there are only three settings for each one, but still would’ve been nice to map them. If anyone has figured out which binding they are under and has successfully mapped them I’d love to hear.
Zero stuttering issues for me. It’s actually pretty remarkable how well it performs.
There are, however, issues with the gyropilot blowing through approach and nav points. That’s a bug that needs to be fixed.
Glad you got it sorted my quadrant doesn’t have mixture levers so I do all that manually not to bad on dc6 but I do have copilot help me out here and there. Yeah as for the giropilot set to loc sometimes it does ignore the nav points more of a problem for me is the atc dropping out and copilot not automatically taking control as I don’t like having the atc window open on my hud
All - Some history if I might. In the USN, the DC6 was the C-118. We had 20 of them plus 3 VIP versions, and 3 C-130s in my squadron.
The plane was used for Cargo from HI to points all over the pacific destinations for many years. It was a workhorse. It was easy to be close to max weight and still get her into a backwater place and get out. Into Vietnam a lot.
There was a AC=Aircraft Commander, Co-Pilot (2) and navigator. All Officers, the Flight Engineer was usually at least 1st Class PO (2), who had a AD rating (AD=Aviation Engine Mechanic - R=Reciprocating Engines; J=Jet/Turbine Engine Rating). The loadmasters usually 2 enlisted were of lower rank. In the mid to late 70’s the squadron was decommissioned and the planes were sent to reserves or the boneyard. None are still flying to my knowledge in any branch of the US Military. I did also get to ride on a DC-3 one time from Cubi Pt, Philippines to Manila and that was a kick. That PMDG thinks it is worthy of development is a testament to it’s durability. I am more of a Big Iron type of Pilot in Sim, so it does not hit any hot buttons for me. I like the 737; 747; C-17 GM-III, and the F-14. Of note, the F-14 First flew in Dec 1970, and I went into active service in Jan 71, so sorta plank owners in a sense.
