yeah new york and los angeles are just a 24 hour airshow its so awesome

Steam reviews are in general awful. One line saying that the game isn’t what they expected are desperately unhelpful, and there will be hundreds like it. Then there is review bombing on top of that.

most of the negative reviews are about it not downloading or low speed

So basically it was just an error and the tinfoil hats were already angry.

I mean, the majority of the negative reviews were just people saying “I can’t install it, it won’t load, it’s still beta, etc.”. And while it’s important that people know there are install issues, the reviews weren’t all that informative. And why do people really care? The ones that should care are people that haven’t bought the game yet and are truly interested. Most people here probably already have it, and thus the reviews mean nothing to them.

I care because I want the simulator to be as successful as possible, and I’m of the opinion that the product was rushed, which caused bad user reviews, which harm the product. Having a label of “Mixed Reviews” can’t be good for the sales. Even now it still has that label on Steam, if you remove the language filter, but it’s getting close to “Mostly Positive”. And getting Steam to remove the reviews would have caused a huge backlash, which would have hurt the product even more. I’m glad it was just a glitch and the reviews are back.

Talking about language filters, I can’t even see all the reviews in the Microsoft store, the Microsoft Store limits me to seeing reviews from my country. And currently there are only 5 reviews from my country and it’s currently rated at only 3.2 stars out of 5: two reviews with 5 stars, one with 4 stars, and two with one star. Of course, 5 reviews is not representative at all, but since the MS Store doesn’t have the option to remove the country/language filter, the only alternative is to look on Steam, where I can see all the reviews without filters, to see what other people think about it.

I don’t know why you’d negatively review a game because you had download issues. It’s like reviewing a car based on the manufacturers website functionality.

Because the content downloader was implemented in the simulator, instead of using the Steam downloader. Most of the issues came from that. Like crashes after crashes (a simulator issue, also occurring during download), not being able to download and decompress the downloaded files in parallel, which increased the installation time unnecessarily, and the high CPU and GPU usage because it doesn’t automatically limit the FPS to something reasonable during the download.

And, as a bonus, the download time is counted as play time, because it’s done in the simulator. Which means that you can get outside the 2 hour window for automatic refunds, just by installing it. You would then have to have your refund request manually reviewed before being accepted.

Going with your car analogy is like a car that works reasonably well when driven, but it’s extremely hard and annoying to refuel.

Let me take a wild guess.
Perhaps because people downloading the software were expecting better, due to the fact that MS is one of a couple companies in the world to hit 1 trillion stock value. And is able to stream downloads to a couple billion computers around the world every time they update their flagship Operating System. (Albeit sometimes with unforeseen results)
Be gentle, this is just pure speculation.

I can see them

Horrible comparison…terrible

No review was deleted. Here’s what I see on my end. Either someone’s trolling or there was a problem with Steam

I’m definitely not trolling, that’s how it looked when I checked. I even refreshed the page a few times. It was fixed later.

I modified the thread title to prevent any further confusion, and edited my initial post as well to clarify.

sorry if something I said was misunderstood. I didn’t accuse you or anyone else on here of trolling. I meant to say someone might have been hacking the Steam website. It happens quite frequently.
