It has always shown under the Cargo Transport - Heavy Specialization, even prior to Heavy being available. Per the SDK, Cargo Transport - Heavy is defined as being capable of carrying 3,175kgs or greater. According to the mass and balance page of the EFB, the Saab 340 can be loaded with up to 5,012kgs of cargo.
Of course, that amount of cargo also puts it at MTOW with no fuel or pilots, so isn’t exactly usable
But, by the books, it would be categorized as Heavy per the SDK.
Also, fun note - the “Cargo - Loaded” variant has no place in the mass and balance page to even load cargo, but the “Cargo - Empty” variant does.
The SAAB 340 has always been heavy as @Zadma says. But, has never ever had any cargo missions opened up in medium cargo. We have never been able to use it other than in passenger transport.
Also as an update, I am once again seeing the A330-300P2F in my company as well as Cargo Transport - Heavy missions populating for both Freelance and Employee on Xbox console. Will test on PC in a little bit.
UPDATE: Unfortunately the A330 remains “Aircraft disabled” on PC for me. Will try a few troubleshooting steps here now (sell and rebuy the aircraft, disable and enable the aircraft, delete streamedpackages/rollingcache, reset Career mode, etc.).
EDIT: Was able to resolve the issue by selling the “Aircraft disabled” aircraft and re-purchasing. It now shows in my Cargo Transport company and Cargo Transport - Heavy missions are populating (still just for the A330, none for the Saab).
I believe the issue for the Saab is the same as the issue known for the BN-2 Islander. It is built just at the very bottom limit of what its mission type can handle, and the mission generator just never (or in the BN-2’s case, very very rarely) generates anything with that low of a payload requirement. Here are the payloads shown in the mission briefing of five random Cargo Transport - Heavy missions:
84,964lbs
199,879lbs
87,803lbs
101,128lbs
125,974lbs
Obviously five does not a huge sample size make, but to see their average weight is over 119,949lbs (1,085% of the total cargo capacity of the Saab, which is even more than its practical capacity) and the minimum I found was still about 769% of the Saab’s total cargo capacity.
The mission generator needs to be provided criteria to always generate X% of missions that have a certain maximum capacity reflective of the minimum useful capacity of the smallest/least capable aircraft in its specialization, otherwise people are buying (in some cases, with real money on the Marketplace in the case of the Saab and BN-2) aircraft that can virtually never be used for their intended purpose.
12.20 today 30th April,
PS5 beta,
No heavy cargo missions in either freelance or employee for the Saab340.
I have Employee A330 300p2f missions showing. And Freelance cargo Airbus missions showing.
In Employee it allowed me to select a cargo mission, load into the mission but placed me straight onto the taxi hold point missing out cold and dark altogether. A very brief message said there was a problem with the airport so it placed me at hold
This morning I can see the A330-300p2f for sale in my cargo company. The RR and GE versions.
All versions of Airbus available in Airline Passenger available. Missions available too.
I can confirm that as of today, 1530 CEST, on the SU5 beta on PS5
I see the inibuilds Airbus aircraft as intended in career mode, had to sell the deactivated I owned to buy new ones, but this worked.
I see heavy cargo missions both as an employee and a freelancer.
I was able to start a heavy cargo mission (on-going) with an A330-300P2F, starting cold-and-dark. Just had an insufficient memory ressources warning during the mission loading, but with seemingly no impact. Made it up to the take off, currently flying to my destination with no problem so far.
Don’t forget the Learjet 35A – I have no idea why it was tagged to Cargo Transport - Heavy but it was and currently is but has no missions. It should either be moved to Cargo Transport - Medium or fixed in Cargo Transport - Heavy. I understand this won’t be a top priority for the team but I hope they don’t forget 3rd party planes in all of this. It’s really annoying to buy a plane and then have it not work as advertised.
I would suspect that there are no Learjet missions for the same reason(s) the Saab 340 doesn’t work, but hopefully the dev team is at least aware and can go from there.
(edit: Didn’t mean that to be a reply to you Zadma, just a general note here, but yeah… either the planes are in the wrong category or the mission generator is not accounting for them properly)
Didn’t include simply because I don’t own it but yes, I’m sure it’s nowhere near what I’m seeing as the average Cargo Transport - Heavy payload requirement.
Either their mission generation for Heavy needs tweaked significantly or the definitions of Medium vs. Heavy do - and I think I’d prefer the latter as having the Saab and A330 in the same class feel weird to me. But then again, so would having the Caravan and Saab share a class, so maybe adjustments need made everywhere. Though people would riot if the Caravan got downgraded to Light
In PS5 after SU5 (Premium Deluxe version) there is only 1 aircraft to buy and that is the B390 from Carenado. I already have the NAMC.
Weren’t there supposed to be 20 aircraft available to buy in the MP after SU5?
So, no Lear jet for heavy cargo
Issue resolved for me on PS5 as well had to go into my cargo company and sell and re buy the airbus a330-300P2F but seems to be working really good now doing a heavy cargo mission as I speak about to land
I believe what was said was “around 20 items” which means could be more, could be less, and also doesn’t mean only aircraft. Also it’s possible that additional things may release today, not sure.
