Force Reload of Community Mods without restarting sim

Adding or deleting something from the Content Manager forces a rescan of the community folder in-sim. That tells me Asobo could add a button to do this outside the Content Manager (the code already exists).
I would think it would be better to add the button to the DevMode. Call it “Reload Community”.

Thanks – sounds good, and far quicker than a re-start

Simply a ‘Refresh 3rd Party Content’ in the menu (or even Dev menu if need be) would be better.

Do you know if this is still the case with the SU8 beta we are testing now? I just tried it, but no go.

It’s hard to believe that something this useful/helpful/functional only has 27 votes after 3 months.

Really a shame that there isn’t a small team of programmers (maybe 3 or 4 people) dedicated to handle this kind of “quality of life” feature. There are quite a few of these that will just linger at the bottom of the list, but they sure seem like low-hanging fruit.

Re: low-hanging fruit- I understand that changes are not made in isolation, and that everything effects everything. Do you think that there is (or could be) triage done that would allow a small team to focus on this type of request? Versus the heavies (VR, weather, Flight Model, Aerodynamics, Physics, Multiplayer, Rendering/Imaging, etc).

Since the sim can update OFFICIAL content without re-starting, one would imagine that it could equally well be made to update COMMUNITY content, without a re-start ??

Me too - currently I have a 3-minute Sim load time, then restart the flight itself only to be able to see an add-on I created and realize that I have to adjust it- AGAIN!https://forums.flightsimulator.com/images/emoji/twitter/grimacing.png?v=12
Very, very time-consuming and frustrating staring at the screen for minutes on end…
Thank you for up-voting this - maybe one day we will be able to enjoy our creativity more serenely.

I’m an avid modder and I know the pain of restarting the sim. This feature could mean that we could possibly decide that we want a mod while inflight, go to the main menu, get the mod, go to the content manager, reload the mods, and be flying in less than 2 minutes! So awesome!

Since the sim does need so long to start,
a function that reloads the addons of the community folder would be great.

When You forgot to update an addon or changed Your mind using a different aircraft or any other addon which is not active You could quickly add this addon to the sim without waiting the for the whole startup procedure.

If this is possible at all!

Hello,
what do you mean by “official content”?
I can’t get your method to work

This would indeed be very helpful and it doesnt’ sound like it should be such a complicated feature to add ?

100% agree! I would really like to have a function to reaload a certain scenery.
For performance reasons there should NOT scanned and reloaded the whole scenery library (which need 10 Minute in my case).

It would be fine, if I could enter one single ICAO code, and only this one should be reloaded from disc.

I would find this very useful, since I don’t like to wait annother 10 minutes or more for a reload of a scenery i just installed from other sources or activating a scenery in msfs-addon-linker!

Very needed indeed!

@Eefoe
Please add the MSFS 2024 tag to this request. Thanks!

I’ve added 2020 and 2024. I’m not sure if 2024 is as critical seeing as it has a much shorter boot-up time, but I suppose the wish still applies.

it only has a much shorter bootup time, because my Community and Onestore folders are simly EMPTY,
when I’m allowed to download my more than 200 Airports and 50 Aircraft, then it will startup as slow as msfs 2020 for sure!
