G36 Improvement Project

When will the aircraft be available with traditional instruments?

Thanks, I have read in various places to lean for max RPM on takeoff but there usually isn’t much on the long taxi. When I do max RPM it seems slightly rich.

Paris is a crazy amount of taxi time!

Unfortunately that’s not going to happen unless somebody goes all-out and does a new interior model and exports it correctly. If I’m not mistaken, I think Asobo uses 3DS Max and unless someone has a few thousands dollars burning a hole in their pocket, no one’s got it.

Also, it’d mean messing with someone else’s model, which is kind of frowned upon.

I’ve managed to import the model into Blender, but am no 3d expert. I’d like at least to make the circuit breakers be simulated and hobbs functional. I’d also like to move the ā€˜hangar’ custom window and move it to a tablet device that sits out the way somewhere.

I’ve just got to hack away until I find a way

Yeah, importing is usually not a problem, it’s the exporting that doesn’t work. There’s a bunch of relationships and animations that get lost in translation from Blender, unfortunately, resulting in a broken model. I’ve tried it a few times when all I was trying to do was move the $registration meshes.

Ah that’s rubbish!

I wonder if the new MSFS supported blender plugin will make things any better?

It’s possible to obtain a free academic or student license of 3DS Max, which is good for three years. But you need to have a valid academic email account.

I made a post earlier today asking if having a generic tablet model that could be added to all/most airplanes was possible.

I’d like to be able to have the popout menus hosted in such a device instead of having them float relative to camera position.

I was just flying the TBM 930 and I got the fouled spark plug engine sound. I’d think that should not be possible!

Is there something that could be conflicting? It’s also the improvement mod version.

Hi All

Happy to announce this small release addressing the changes in performance after the addition of MSFS Prop Modelling & CFD Dynamics to the aircraft. The numbers should be pretty close now.

Aahh, spoil sport, I was just getting used to the bonus performance!

OK, jokes aside: you are a star! Most impressive the attention to detail and continual refinements you keep adding. This really is a wonderful addition for us GA guys.

@SlabsFly oops sorry! :rofl:

Although a little slower she is now as close as I can get it to the POH numbers. Now we’ve got that sorted/fixed I can get back to the systems! I’ve been following the excellent work @WeptBurrito2749 & @N95JPL have been doing with the 152 and I really want to follow in their footsteps!!

Yes, much more realistic performance. Flies great!

I have started getting a CTD when ending flights with the Bonanza with some regularity. It’s usually when exiting to t he menu after a flight. Has anyone else seen this? Hopefully it’s not time to do a full reinstall.

@Michail71 It’s not something I’ve had reported either here or on the discord - sounds like there is more happening with your install,

I’d really recommend removing all addons and checking the base sim works correctly then re-add addons one by one. You problem could be a classic mod conflict.

Thanks, I don’t think it’s actually realted to the G36. I was lucky to have a couple months CTD free! It may have started around the Top Gun update, but there isn’t any general chatter there either.

I’ve done everything but try the default so far. I’ll unload and try the default G36. But that hurts my eyes, lol. When I accidentally launch it my first thought is who messed up my airplane?

I did a flight last night with everything unloaded but the G36. Only other mod is the taxi ribbon. For that I’ll need to run the installer. But I think you use the taxi ribbon also.

I am getting logbook entries at least before the CTD.

Good news, I get the CTD exiting to menu on a completed flight with everything stock. But now I have to figure out what’s up with the CTD.

The base G36 feels terrible!

*** Edit ***

I made another post on the CTD issue exiting a flight and it seems others are experiencing it too. I don’t think it’s getting many complaints as it doesn’t disrupt actual flying. However, last flight I took with full mods loaded didn’t do it.

Hey, I’m pretty sure that the CTD is not mod related and more sim based. There is nothing in the mod that can cause a CTD when exiting a flight.

I have a question on interior design. The G36 sun visors seem to have two giant glowing orbs in them at night. I’m not sure how realistic that is. I’m guessing it’s supposed to be reflections of the displays.

Since I fly VR these cause a washout to happen at night. It it possible to have a sun visor mod that eliminates this effect?

TBM project has modeled the sun visors, which is neat. Not sure if that is sharable or reusable.

Yea I think those are in the non-moded version also

Yeah, every airplane with visors is the same. If it’s night time and they are in your peripheral vision, they cast a glare over the headset’s lenses.
