I went for the expensive way too and I only fly the A320 exclusively. Hahaha.

I have the premium deluxe as well but I do often fly the 787, and I fly out of EDDF and OMDB a lot so I’m pretty happy with it. I’ve got like 300 hours already and I see many more ahead so it was a easy decision. But yeah, I also don’t recommend it to people who ask - if you have to ask, you probably shouldn’t be getting it.
I personally went with the Premium Deluxe edition, and I’m glad I did. Maybe the 787 isn’t up to snuff (and it isn’t, but I expect that from all default airliners), but some of the others are, and are loads of fun to fly, like the steam gauge 172 and the Cirrus.
Recently, MS has been selling the whole shebang for under $100, it may be worth your while both financially as well as from a PITA perspective to just do that, even if you are “rebuying” it. I also seem to remember that some things would be available for free or at reduced prices for PD version owners, but I haven’t seen that confirmed so I’m not at all sure it’s true. But if it is (and in my opinion, it should be, although those who don’t own it might vehemently disagree), that’s yet another reason to go with the PD version.
