Golden Age Simulations : Stearman Model 75

Any plans to offer a dual aileron version?

It is very difficult to read my last answer above ?
It seems that the Red Bull version IS a dual aileron so …

while the image of the Red Bull Stearman above may not show the aileron pushrods required by the 4 aileron Airshow modification, this image of the GAS Super Stearman for P3D does.

You can rest assured that Lagaffe and GAS will model their Super Stearman correctly

The screen posted above is only a working image, it does not represent the final plane (the engine is not even textured).

I’m not going to describe ALL the process of bringing an FSX/P3D aircraft to a native MSFS model: it would take at least a dozen pages. The only thing to remember is that it takes time.
For the PT-17 which was the first to be operational in MSFS it took almost 2 months.

How do you want the Super Stearman to be completely finished, textured and why not animated in one week?

For everyone: a little patience otherwise I don’t post anything.

Hey @FusionHorse151, maybe you could update the topic title since the Stearman’s in general release now?

I don’t understand why the installer from Just Flight installs the uninstall .exe and a general “Golden Age Simulations” folder in the Community folder. Irritating, but I hope moving or deleting the uninstall exe doesn’t prevent me from uninstalling this addon in the future - as I read somewhere that we need to “Use the provided Uninstaller” prior to updates.

I don’t like how Just Flight implemented the installer for this product, but I definitely didn’t want to buy it via “the sketchy” purchase process that most people used to purchase this addon prior to being available on Just Flight.

The installer is for those who prefer to have an automated process, that is, for people who are not used to managing their Windows installation.
Since no writing is done in the windows registry during installation, if you are a power user, you can to uninstall: simply delete via file manager the 3 created directories and uninstaller.

As for the sale via the SOH forum, it was a promotional offer made to people who closely follow the creations of GAS, nothing more.
This promotional launch allowed us to validate the product and correct some residual bugs :pinching_hand:

Golden Age Simulations folder contains docs, a paintkit and a little work of me in order to use this aircraft in multiplayers environment (2 soundai.CFG) :ok_hand:

Okay, good to know I can just delete the folders prior to an update

I would prefer that Just Flight put non game related files in a separate folder like the 15+ addons I’ve purchased from them previously. This game freezes and crashes almost unacceptably often, and constantly removing files from the community folder to diagnose what’s causing the freezes or CTD’s is tiresome.

how to use? do we need to ad it?

No troubles with the SimMarket installer.

Have you considered using Addon_Linker? I find it almost indispensible.
You can create as many presets as you want, each with whatever 3rd party mods you want (or don’t want) loaded into the sim via links in Community.

For example, it’s easy to create a preset with just the plane, load it up and see whether a problem with other addons disappears. That way you don’t heve to mess with the Community folder - at all.

Forgive me if I’m repeating what you already know (or are on Xbox, where Linker may not be an option.)

Note to add to Easyraider’s question:
There is only a “Sound” folder and not a “soundai” folder, per your readme, so its a little confusing.

Note: to add to Easyraider’s question:

Hmmmm… looks like we might have to create the “Soundai” folder for the A75 version? Note: I’m not a “power user”, so I’m unaccustomed to editing the files of addons I purchase. But, it’s still the early adopter beta stage, so I understand. The “75-common” already has a “soundai” folder with a .wav file, so that one is straight forward as the instructions read.

i wonder also?

@Kapustick,
To answer to yours questions :
MSFS only loads the directories from which it will find a layout.json file, this layout.json describes all the files that will be necessary for the addon.

The Golden Age Simulations directory contains only one PDF, one paintkit and two configuration files, so it will never be loaded. I MSFS has CDT, it’s not beacause you have such a folder !

If it has not been put elsewhere it is precisely not to scatter the data of the addons. As an old Windows Administrator, I have always grouped my files and I have never divided them into 50 folders: just a common sense rule :sunglasses:
Therefore, it is not worth being afraid of this directory and its location.

@Easyraider7884,
“how to use? do we need to ad it?”

As for the 2 soundai.CFG (I corrected my post above), these are files that are delivered in the state and with a Readme that should be read.
This is to meet the need expressed by a user who wanted to multiplayer. If you do not know how to use them, it is not necessary to change your basic installation: otherwise it is at your own risk

i fly only online,so it were nice if this ai sound work out off the box,as most other addons do,but not a big deal

it is a very nice addon,so i use it a lot,and when you meet one, were nice to hear it.
so if i understand right,we user have to ad it,as your read me?

Okay.

So far all the other developers put folders that hold similar files inside the main directory of their addon, or use a separate directory on the main drive besides the MSFS Common directory. It makes it difficult for me to want to purchase any future products you might release knowing that you are the only developer with “common sense” and your addons will add numerous files inside and clutter the MSFS Community folder - even if they are “safe” and not loaded by MSFS. I vote that those folders be put inside the main directory of the addon.
