I’ve never used DLSS only TAA
This video compares Anti-Aliasing TAA vs DLSS 4 in MSFS 2024
I noticed that in TAA, colors are coarser and have more palettes than in DLSS
The video shows a comparison of these effects
Look out for Beacon, Strobes
C TAA light from the beacon, the strobe spreads more and softer, and with DLSS has a limited shape and less softness
Ok but that doesn’t necessarily explain the issues in the clouds from my earlier post since that was using TAA.
I just tried switching to TAA. Zero banding… so for me it was indeed DLSS…
Tried it with the sky gradient, clouds, everything. For me specifically, using TAA fixes it…
Weird as I’ve always used TAA, The debanding filter in reshade seems to have fixed it for me so far
So what may have also helped me: I have an nVidia card, and apparently in some scenarios the dithering is not enabled on a driver level, but you can force it on with this free app: Releases · Maassoft/ColorControl · GitHub (Color Control).
I just set the dithering to be 10-bit (like my monitor), and set it to Temporal.
Like I said, with this, in TAA, I no longer have any banding visible in any scenario.
