Guimbal Cabri G2 no engine power at high altitudes

I took off in a stock standard Cabri from Lukla LTH 9000ft and flew east looking for Everest base camp II. I got up to around 16000ft using a combination of skiing up slopes while nudging the joystick forward ! (ground effect).
