When I first bought the Premium Deluxe, it seemed like a lot of money to me. Yes, I think its worth the money and have no regrets. I’ve bought many software titles in 30 years and flight simulators being my obsession were all worth it.
I think for most of us having used many flight simulators knew that it would have issues and a learning curve. And for those who have been riddled with bugs, I truly feel for you. Unfortunately with so many computer software setups, hardware configurations and even overclocks, I expected this to be a result.
Asobo, all in all, has done a great job and where it hasn’t, we will have to have patience.

Absolutely! I had the Deluxe version on Steam, but I realized this was the only game I still played on Steam. So, I chucked Steam and bought the Standard version from the Store because I wanted a simpler setup with just the planes I like. Love it so much I bought it twice.

Nope! Bought the store version and the boxed version, addons from MSFS store, Aerosoft and ORBX. (i spend about 700 euro’s on software alone) Had a new desktop build previous to the release of MSFS last year, got some new control gear. And now MSFS won’t install anymore since mid june. Actually i feel robbed.

I feel for you its a large outlay, but serious question do you feel building a desktop specifically for an unreleased game was a good idea?
The reason i ask is I imagine during the first year of any flight Simulator you wouldn’t have gotten back what you expected off the back of such an investment.
Completely appreciate your opinion here buddy, im glad I don’t feel like this.
Can I ask, why do you continue to be involved with it?
I just cant think of many instances where I feel so strongly against something, but continue to give it my time and attention.

Well i used every version of MSFS since version 1 in 1982, still have all the boxed versions in collection. Never had any problem with previous versions so i expected the same with latest release.

Despite spending a significant amount of hours in sim, absolutely not.
I say that because many of the features that were advertised in the marketing leading up to release are simply missing. Example: Charts+, Accurate + full featured aerodynamic simulation
Until MSFS is everything that was promised and advertised, I still wont have my monies worth I’m afraid.
Edit: That isn’t to say I’m not happy with MSFS, but I just believe in receiving what the community was promised

Absolutely worth it: many hours of enjoyment with close to zero issues.

If you’re that confident take them to court. If you’re not willing to take them to court then you’re definitely not confident you’ve been scammed.
Stand up for your convictions or stop being a drama queen.

It is what it is. I’m immensely-underwhelmed with the state of the sim a year in. Yet, I still fly it from time to time.

Till is worked! Now it don’t do nothing!
A product should work right? There was no expiry date on it.
Do feel let down, but have high hopes that the next update will get it going!!??

I think it is perhaps a little too early for me to reply definitively for a few reasons, but overall I will say MSFS is an extremely promising flight sim platform. At this point I would lean towards a yes but with a bit of a caveat…
Once some of the more problematic gremlins are fixed and other areas of the sim have reached a decent level of implementation and improvement then will I truly have a basis upon which to judge if the sim will provide me with my monies worth. This is a very subjective point for each of us.
For me I would like to see some direct improvements to the sim and largely this would be missing features or features that are only provided in basic guise, e.g. some aspects of the flight model behaviour, maybe some tweaks to the weather engine.
More importantly I would say the is a very really need to support and work with third party developers, particularly for add-on aircraft I.e. study level (or at least pushing that level of realism). Built in helicopter support, I.e a bespoke level of flight model support and controls etc.
Let’s be fair, and again this is subjective as we all have different expectations of flight sims: there is not really one sim out of the three main competitors that provides all of the good aspects that exist in the other sims. To be specific MSFS, XP11 and P3D.
In all honesty I think it is likely to be another couple of years before we really start to see the true potential of MSFS. I just hope the commitment to simmers is upheld by MS/Asobo and they deliver against their claims early on. I really hope/trust we will eventually see MSFS evolve into the sim it has the potential to be.

Yes, but I only spent $1 to test it out the first month.
While it unquestionably has stunning scenery (and yes, I can see my house), a requirement for me is functional IFR, the way I fly it - with modern technology and following real-world procedures. Unfortunately, many of the things that go hand-in-hand with IFR/IMC, and setting up practice, seem still to be missing.
I will continue to check back and stay hopeful. That said, it seems - as was expounded by many early adopters who were destined to be unable to find a single fault - that 3rd parties are, or at least are trying, to fill in the gaps.
My litmus test is for the sim, natively, to match and deliver, functionally, everything that was promised in the many official pre-release videos.

Ditto!
I too have all the boxed versions since FS2000…and they all gave much more value for money.
FS2020 was great while it worked, but it isn’t of any use for those it don’t work for. Hopes on the next Update, and wishing it reverses all that has been lost.

1600 hours is sad. Over four hours a day ….. every day
Well worth it for me. Yes, there have been times when I want to scream with frustration, but I’ve also had that with other software, particularly when it’s new or freshly upgraded.
The rewards and enjoyment have far outweighed those few bad moments for me. I can see myself continuing to enjoy this for years to come; everything looks close enough to what I used to experience flying gliders/sailplanes in the past that the few minor defects aren’t that important, and they certainly aren’t an immersion breaker that many moaners seem to keep harping on about.
Make the most of what you do have, point out the faults by all means, but enjoy it for what it is in the meantime.
