OP-et-al, I followed the zendesk procedure to reset the store, no joy. I then followed instructions on how to uninstalll store and reinstall, that got screwed up somehow, so I reset windows 10. No joy. So I rebuilt OS using my OEM usb install disk. Five days later, was able to download game, 20+ hours to download game. Initially, it ran real hot, but after latest patch it runs cooler, and mostly please with it. Still no documentation on any of the planes/processes/procedures and even the check lists in 787/747 are wrong, or not fully complete. And no one it seems knows for sure what the proper steps are. Several pilots on YT, who have videos on process, I made me checklist, now to get the AP working so I don’t keep crashing plane. The logbook I think is not recording all my time either. But the biggest complaint for me is NO DOCUMENTATION period. I have had two CTD’s since latest patch, and not sure what caused them. But restarting came up and ran fine, go figure.
I Hope this fixes your CTD
What I suggest to anybody having issues with MSFS since the last hotfix patch, is to run a Windows command as suggested in the page I am linking, and if that does not work, then I highly recommend that you get a commercial quality “Stress-Benchmark Utility” and let it rip in your system for at least a good hour. I OC my system and I let the stress test run for 12 hrs. If it passes that test, then I can throw anything at my PC and it will run it without crashing. I use AIDA64 and I believe it has a 30 day trial version. I know what you are thinking, that you don’t OC your system. Well, not all PC components are the same, specially OEM parts that are used to build those store bought PCs. I have had brand name “OEM” RAM that went out on me in less than a month, and I never ever OC my RAM. Replaced them with 64 gigs in a retail box and it’s been running great for more than a year now. Another thing that is going on right now is that the market is flooded with counterfeit electronic parts that even some major PC manufacturers are buying without knowledge that the parts had been re-labeled. This was investigated and reported by GamersNexus. Laptops are more susceptible to heat, make sure it is well ventilated and if possible, place fans under it. I hope it helps, cause for many of us, including myself, the Sim have not had a single CTD since the last patch and it is because my PC is not the same as your PC. Here is the link from a MS page that will do an online comparison of your windows installation with the latest image and replace any corrupted files you have, if any. Good luck.

Exactly same happened with me after Japan world update. I had to wait for next release which solved the problem. I tried innumerable things but nothing worked but next update had me up and running.
I tried everything suggested here but nothing worked. I decided to reinstall Windows 10 just out of sheer desperation. Now when I try and download it from the store it doesn’t even begin but gives an error. I guess you could say I am going backwards now!
Have you tried installing it with the XBox program?
There is no other way to download and launch the Flight Sim. When trying to download with the Marketplace the download won´t start, it functions only with the XBox App.
yes it was the XBox program I used, not the store sorry. Before I reset Windows 10 I could at least get the first 1gb to download, but now it won’t even do that.
Maybe one of these tips might function:
Thank you. I’ll see if any of these tips helps and report back.
Do you have dev. mode on? If so, that stops your flights getting logged. Turn it off, then starts new flight.
No, developer mode is off. I think this is a known bug, and it’s being worked on, not sure, so many of them. I was able to get MSFS back from the grave this am. Now writing up checklist for Cold and Dark 747 with some FMC info in it.
I’ve noticed it won’t log takeoffs if you don’t talk to atc, at least in my case. It still logs the time and a landing tho.
Good news! I managed to get to the sim to install! Now, I don’t have it running YET but it is installing the 120gb and its’ half way done. I am optimistic it will work. As far as I can tell reinstalling Windows 10, along with making sure all system updates were done AND updating everything from the store was the answer. I hope maybe this thread helps someone else with the same problem I have experienced. Thanks to everyone that tried to help me with this. Hopefully I’ll be in the skies soon!
Finally you have it up and running again! (or at least still downloading.)
Congratulations!
My Dear Co - Simmers, I am not very Tech Savvy! Those who understand the technicalities…can you answer these 02 questions…
- If, during the process of FS2020 Updating, the internet is lost, would FS2020 restart updating from the point the internet was lost? I had started the UPdate 5 on 27th JUL, but was not present when there was an internet down time…so was not sure if Update 5 was fully installed or not. When I start FS2020, I do get the updated screens and map etc, but when I press the FLY button…it’s always CTD.
- I have the following system (which did not have the CTD issues before 27th JUL). Is it compatiable for FS2020? Never had any issue with FS20202 prior Update 5.
Video Card - Ge Force GTX 1050 Ti
Video RAM 4.0 GB
CPU - Intel (R) Core ™ i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90 HGz
RAM 32GB
OS - Windows 10
Free Disk Space 418 GB
Any suggestions are most welcome as am desperate to get my FS2020 back and fly again!
